Big Tuna: Through trades and FA I now have too many SP. Who would you cut/trade and what’s your opinion of the caliber? I’m last in ERA and WHIP (Cueto, CMart, Fulmer, Salazar, Maeda, Gausman, Samardzjia, Odorizzi, S. Gray)

Larry David: Just read an article that said sell Hamels while you can. I’ll admit, his start hasn’t been great and last year dude’s FIP was 3.98. What are your thoughts on him?

Paul Sporer: Totally understand the concerns with him and not wanting to be a year too late. Still early enough to turn, but the 7% swinging strike rate is ugly

Paul Sporer: Solid spec in deeeep leagues. Mondesi just not getting it done

James: Which pitcher ends up with more saves for Nats in 2017? Is he even on the team right now?

Paul Sporer: Probably not. I don’t buy Kelley and while Glover has the stuff, he doesn’t get enough whiffs with it right now

Joe Jr.: Trade Cespedes and K. Giles to land Rizzo? Wouldn’t have done it a week ago, but Cespy’s injury and Houston’s erratic bullpen have me thinking.

Paul Sporer: Is it still available to you with Yo’s injury? I can get behind it in shallower leagues, probably pass in 15-teamers

Rudy: Hi Paul! In a Roto OBP, how soon do you jump on a trade if you start lagging in categories? I’m dead last in pretty much all hitting cats, and dude keeps offering me Jay Bruce for my Tanaka or Hamels. Not sure if it’s too early to pull a move like this. Thanks!

Paul Sporer: You don’t wanna get too far behind. I usually assess after a month. We’re approaching the month mark. If you don’t have a lot of guys you fully expect to turn it on, you should be open to a move. Bruce for Hamels isn’t bad at all, IMO

Big Tuna: Heard the pod with Eno (great by the way) and it seems like you guys are luke warm on Quintana. I was offered him for Salazar. Is Quintana no longer stable enough to make that move?

Paul Sporer: I’d keep Salazar.

Paul Sporer: I buy Ervin in general. He’s obv running hot, but he’s a low-to-mid 3.00s ERA arm IMO

Paul Sporer: He can be a better Cain so I’d make that move. I have some hype for Shaw so I’d ride that out. I think he can spike 25+ HR/10+ SB

Paul Sporer: Ya I mean, everyone gets the same amt of innings so as long as you’r getting good innings, it’s not bad to max out early. Only prob is that to max out significantly before others, you might get a lot of shitty innings

Lightning: Thoughts on Addison Russell? Legit breakout coming? Got an offer of Harvey + Russel for Correa (I get Correa)

Paul Sporer: I’m a huge Russell believer and have been for a while now. I still do this deal for Correa.

Ombudsman: Someone dropped Gausman in my 10-tm mixed H2H. Standard scoring with QS. Worth a pickup? Would have to drop Charlie Morton, Kendall Graveman, VV, or Gio Gonzalez.

Paul Sporer: I’m souring a bit on Gausman, even in a short sample. I totally understand doing it as Morton and Graveman are hardly must keeps, but it’s not as BLATANTLY OBVIOUS to me as it once was. Just not seeing growth in Gaus

Z: Are you worried Giles won’t hit 30 saves this year?

Paul Sporer: Ya, he doesn’t look great and they won’t be afraid to remove him if he doesn’t sharpen up

P: Thank you for the Vargas article. Auction started for him in my league last night and I was unsure but this gives me a little more confidence to take the gamble with the space I have.

Paul Sporer: Ya I think there are enough supporting skills to roll with Vargas for now. You can have that quick hook with him, though, for sure.

Guest: I have Alex Bregman in a 12 team dynasty league. After reading Blengino’s contact quality piece on him (not to mention his stupid Twitter takedown of Odor’s WBC bat flip) I lost confidence in him as a prospect. Am I overreacting? Is there still a strong possibility he’s a Pedroia type hitter? Or should I try to get something for him while there’s still some bloom on his rose?

Paul Sporer: I’m staying the course. I’ve seen a lot of Pedroia in him, too. If cut every white guy who is a douchebag about Latino batflips, you wouldn’t be able to field a team.

Paul Sporer: I think so, yes

Paul Sporer: Another WBC casualty? I don’t think it’s impossible, we’ve seen wildness before and this is in the range of outcomes for someone with a career 9% BB rate. I’d be buying at any discount, tbh.

Paul Sporer: I’d highly recommend both Chance and Kendrick. Coloring Book by Chance and good kid maad city by Kendrick. Thank Me Later by Drake is fire. His newer stuff isn’t as good.

Paul Sporer: I really dig Taillon.

Paul Sporer: I love Wacha. Pineda isn’t changed yet in my eyes. Sevvy and Wheeler have real upside. I’d be looking to sell the New Yorkers in order of Pineda, Wheeler, Sevvy — I list Pineda first bc he’s going to return more than Wheeler, but Wheeler is my least confident of the bunch
