• The outfield is a mess with several guys on the IL (Trammell, Meyers, Loperfido). Brice Matthews (.167 AVG, 1 HR, 1 SB) started three straight games in the outfield.

Athletics

• Carlos Cortes (.327 AVG, 2 HR) only starts against righties and bats third.

• Zack Gelof (.483 OPS) started in three of the last four games.

Blue Jays

• Ernie Clement is batting second.

• Andrés Giménez sits against lefties (.473 OPS vs LHP, .819 vs RHP).

• Nathan Lukes (career .733 OPS vs RHP, .619 vs LHP) hit leadoff in the last four games against a righty.

• Since joining the team, Lenyn Sosa (.564 OPS) has started in five of eight games.

Guardians

• George Valera (vs RHP) and Angel Martínez (vs LHP) form a left field platoon.

• Juan Brito (.456 OPS) started in only seven of the last 10 games.

Mariners

• Leo Rivas (.478 OPS) started five straight games at third base with Brendan Donovan on the IL.

Orioles

• Leody Taveras (.926 OPS, 2 HR, 1 SB) started in eight of the last 10 games. Both times he sat were against a lefty.

• No changes except Ezequiel Duran and Alejandro Osuna filling in at left field for the injured Wyatt Langford.

• Richie Palacios (vs RHP) and Ben Williamson (vs LHP) form a second base platoon.

Red Sox

• Masataka Yoshida (.737 OPS) has started in three of the last four games, while Jarren Duran has started in just three of the last six.

Royals

• Michael Massey (.242/.257/.455, 1 HR, 0 SB) with eight straight starts with Jonathan India on the IL.

Tigers

• Colt Keith (vs RHP) and Jahmai Jones (vs LHP) form a DH platoon.

• Javier Báez (.703 OPS, 1 HR, 1 SB) with nine starts in the last 10 games.

Twins

• Kody Clemens (career .573 OPS vs LHP, .682 OPS vs RHP) starts against all righties.

• Trying to dissect this lineup is nearly impossible.

• Brandon Lockridge (.812 OPS over the last week) with four starts in the last five games.

• David Hamilton (.622 OPS, 0 HR, 5 SB) with nine starts in the last 10 games.

Cardinals

• No changes.

Cubs

• No changes.

Diamondbacks

• Adrian Del Castillo (.684 OPS) now has five games at catcher and has started in four of the last five games.

• Jose Fernandez (.755 OPS) continues to start nearly every game (last nine of 10).

Dodgers

• Dalton Rushing (1.647 OPS, 7 HR) with five starts in the last 10 games.

• Alex Freeland (.574 OPS, 1 HR, 0 SB) is losing his hold on the second base job with just two starts in the last four games.

Giants

• Drew Gilbert (.217/.280/.348, 1 HR) with eight straight starts in centerfield.

Marlins

• No changes.

Mets

• With Francisco Lindor on the IL, Ronny Mauricio (8 PA) starts at shortstop.

• Carson Benge (vs RHP) and Tommy Pham (vs LHP) form a left field platoon.

• Mark Vientos started five straight games (.623 OPS, 2 HR) at first base.

Nationals

• Luis García Jr. (.633 OPS, 1 HR, 2 SB) started 12 straight, including two against a lefty.

• Jorbit Vivas (.770 OPS) and Brady House (.634 OPS) are splitting time at third base.

• José Tena (.601 OPS) started in four straight games.

Padres

• No one is coming out ahead in the first base/DH foursome (France, Sheets, Castellanos, Andujar).

Phillies

• Felix Reyes (.600 OPS, 1 HR) started three straight games while batting cleanup.

• Justin Crawford (.708 OPS, 1 SB) with just five starts in the last eight games.

Pirates

• Nick Yorke’s (.652 OPS) playing time is down with six starts in the last 10 games.

Reds

• Weak-hitting Ke’Bryan Hayes (.305 OPS) started in just seven of the last 10 games.

• TJ Friedl (vs RHP) and Dane Myer (vs LHP) form a centerfield platoon.

• Rece Hinds (.394 OPS, 41% K%) started in seven of the last nine games.

Rockies

• Ezequiel Tovar (.204/.245/.323) started in just three of the last five games.

I nearly picked up Amed Rosario because he’s playing and hitting well. Then I realized, as you pointed out, that is solely because of the incredible string of lefties they’ve faced – 5 in a row, 8 of the last 10, 10 of the last 14. Per the Probables Grid, they only face 1 lefty in the next 9 games so I expect we’ll see more of McMahon going forward – he’s confirmed for tonight’s game.

I’ll also point out that over that same span where they’ve been facing so many lefties, Ben Rice has a .460 wOBA and .397 xwOBA. He has a .494 wOBA against RHP this year and a .473 against LHP. Dude is looking like an absolute stud so far. He was a guy I was targeting but someone else in our draft jumped on him in the 5th round which seemed high. Now it’s looking like a steal.
