Fantasy Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat
7:33 |
: I’m going to focus on answering WW and FAAB question and then go back through and answer general fantasy questions.
7:33 |
7:33 |
: 3% to 5% each
7:33 |
: top 3 waiver wire adds?
7:34 |
: Way too vague
7:34 |
7:34 |
: Schebler, Calhoun …… Bruce.
7:34 |
: Calhoun and Bruce could swap depending on matchups
7:35 |
: Is Loaisiaga going to have enough security in the rotation to warrant adding him?
7:36 |
: No, but he could be worth adding for just a week or two. In most leagues, 2-3 spots should be available for weekly matchups
7:36 |
7:36 |
: I think Swarzak, he could keep the job all year. Kennedy seems to be in a time share
7:37 |
: Stash kela or Hirano
7:37 |
: Hirano. I put a few bids on him in various leagues.
7:37 |
: Did you watch Corbin Burnes start today? He’s available and I’m trying to decide if he’s really gonna last as a starter. The K’s were amazing, but then the contact was hard.
7:38 |
: Grab Burnes and find out. It’s better to be a week early than a week late on speculations.
7:38 |
7:39 |
: I think it is Martinez.
7:39 |
: Can you estimate % FAAB we need to lay on the closing specs (Gearrin, Swarzak, Kennedy, Zimmer, others?) this week in Main Event?
7:39 | : I wrote about some of these guys: |
7:40 |
: The deal is that none have a job, so it’s still speculation. I’d put bids on them all, $25 to $50, hope for one.
7:40 |
: Parker is on the wire. Do you see him being the closer for the twins over the long haul of the season?
7:41 |
7:41 |
: I know that Seattle’s pen is a crapshoot for saves right now, but who would you give a shot on to get saves? Swarzak?
7:42 |
: No idea here. I really think they will go with a mix until someone stands out and others fail.
7:42 |
: I’m now entirely focused on fantasy baseball. That said, you think Giolito worth taking a chance on? He looked great today.
7:43 |
: I guess. I’ve never been a fan and I need to find out if he’s dumped his curve and throwing his fastball less
7:43 |
: Is adding A. Barnes or Narvaez over waiting on Mejia an easy call in 1C 12-teamer? That the right order?
7:44 |
7:44 |
: Nfbc 12 team. I could drop Heaney, May. Need saves. What’s your bid on Kennedy, Gearrin 1k faab
7:44 |
: I’m around $50 on these guys.
7:45 |
Odorizzi Cozart Loaisiga Wong |
7:45 | : If only I had written an article on the exact topic: |
7:46 |
: Favorite Scooter replacements in 12-tm? Frazier, Wilmer, B. Lowe sort of class
7:46 |
7:46 |
: Swarzak, buttrey, or Bradford for saves? How would you rank them?
7:46 |
: You did it, but Bradford would be way below the other two
7:47 |
: Is joc pederson breaking out or is his upside too limited in a platoon?
7:47 |
: He’s great when he can platoon but the Dodgers are facing …
7:48 |
: three lefty starters next week
7:48 |
7:49 |
: What’s the deal in Seattle with the closer position?
7:49 |
: No idea, sorry. I’ve looked over it and just putting a few dozen dollars on each option. I really don’t like any of them.
7:49 |
: Any potential breakout pitchers that we’ve seen this opening weekend that you’d recommend picking up? Also, what do u think of Sandy Alcantara?
7:50 |
: Most of the ones I liked are owned in my leagues. I guess Zimmermann intrigues me some and widely available
7:51 |
: Chris Taylor droppable in 10 team leagues?
7:51 |
7:51 |
: How would you prioritize the following RP on waivers? Zimmer, T. Rodgers, Jeffress.
7:51 |
: Jeffress, Rodgers, Zimmer
7:51 |
: Is Astudillo the Twins best C?
7:52 |
: Best hitting, sure. But overall game, probably not
7:52 |
: If Soler is available with a 200 FAAB, how much are you allocating for him?
7:53 |
7:53 |
: 16 team mixed 6X6 redraft using K/9, QS, IP. Pls rank: German (NYY), Pomeranz (SF), Keller (KC), DeSclafani (CIN)
7:53 |
: Keller, German ….. Disco …. Pomeranz
7:53 |
: Mark Melancon or Yoshihisa Hirano? Standard 5 x 5 league. Either have a chance at picking up a save any time soon?
7:54 |
: Soon, not in a week or two. But Hirano could hold the job if/when Holland fails
7:55 |
: Merrill Kelly or Brad Keller for 2 starts? How much faab on Gearrin?
7:56 |
: Keller but I need to watch Kelly. I think 5% on Gearrin but bid on all the darts.
7:56 |
: will Jeffress become closer in MIL – assuming no Kimbrel
7:56 |
: I think so. Hader can’t go 2 innings everynight
7:56 |
: 12 tm OPS league, how would you rank Beckham, Bruce, Mancini as waiver adds?
7:57 |
: Mancini is a distant third right now. I’d go Bruce then Beckham (tim), but that could change based on the weekly matchup
7:58 |
: Do you think the Rays will consistently use Chirinos as a traditional starter this season? And would you prioritize him over the likes of Giolito, Alcantara and Bryse Wilson for FAAB bids in a deep mixed league? Thank you!
7:58 |
: I like Chirinos and wish I had more shares
7:59 |
: I’d definitely take him for now especially with his upcoming schedule
7:59 |
: Which SP would you prefer to add in 12 tm: Pineda, Shark, Alcantara, Odorizzi, McHuge, Nelson.
7:59 |
: Pineda or McHugh. I might upside Pineda
7:59 |
: Lost Murphy. Would you rather pick up Schoop or Wong in a points league?
8:00 |
: Wong for now
8:01 |
: Yo mah boy Sandy A legit? 0 BB’s. % of FAAB or $ out of 1000?
8:01 |
: 10%, I’m surprised he’s not owned.
8:01 |
: I own Strop/Morrow in a NL-only. Cishek & Edwards Jr. are avail. Worth throwing FAAB on them given Strop’s early struggles?
8:02 |
: If you are really worred, go with Edwards
8:02 |
: Cut Andrew Miller for Kennedy or Steckenrider? In need of saves.
8:03 |
: For Steck but I wouldn’t feel good about it
8:05 |
: My Tout Wars bid just came through

8:06 |
: Yandy hit leadoff today and has shown a bit more power. Is available in 20 team. Thoughts over A Frazier?
8:06 |
: Both in a 20-teamer
8:07 |
: Jeff, your early season articles have been amazing so far. Thank you! Keep them coming!
8:07 |
: Thanks
8:07 |
: Need a3B in a 12 team 5×5 roto…..%FAAB for Reanato Nunez, Yandy Diaz, Tim Beckham and Eduardo Escobar….Thanks
8:08 |
: I think you can go 5% on Escobar, Beckham, and Diaz and be fine with anyone of the three
8:08 |
: Alcantara or Chirinos in a 10 team k/9 league?
8:08 |
: Steam the matchups
8:08 |
: Pick 2: Freddy peralta, pablo lopez, caleb smith, mike pineda, kyle wright, julio urias
8:09 |
: Without any other context: Urias and Pineda
8:09 |
: Think Soler or DeShields could break out this year?
8:09 |
: Sure
8:09 |
: Dynasty points league. Merrifield and Dejong for Hoskins. Which side do you favor?
8:10 |
: Hoskins
8:10 |
: Choose one to pick up for potential saves ROS: Swarzak or Jeffress
8:10 |
: Jeffress. Knebel is not coming back, Strickland should
8:10 |
: Any of these for real? Matt Moore, Matt Shoemaker, Frankie Montas? Thanks.
8:11 |
: Shoemaker, he was pretty decent late last season
8:11 |
: I was told Jeff Zimmerman works for the Rays now. How did FG find a new Jeff Zimmerman so quickly?
8:11 |
: Jeff Sullivan was the one the Rays hired
8:12 |
: What’s a good baseline bid for a single-week streaming pitcher (NFBC)? Say, Shoemaker (home Orioles) this week
8:12 |
: Or even Vargas vs Miami
8:12 |
: Almora run way with Cubs CF job?
8:12 |
: If he hits at all, the job is his with his D
8:13 |
: Would you rather have McMahon or Hampson now?
8:13 |
: McMahon unless I really needed to speculate on steals. He’s the better hitter than Hampson
8:13 |
: Is Renfroe a safe drop? 12 team 4 OF league.
8:14 |
: Yes unless he starts getting regular at bats
8:14 |
: Is Zach Davies a better roster choice than Lance Lynn?
8:14 |
: I figured this was an -only question but it can’t be
8:15 |
: Drop Cervelli for Barnes?
8:15 |
: Yes.
8:15 |
: Is Marco Gonzales someone that should be streamed in a 12 team H2H categories league or is his floor consistent enough to roster?
8:16 |
: I’m using him as a streamer
8:16 |
: Jeff, great article. One name that wasn’t on there was Odorizzi. What would you recommend on him?
8:16 |
: 2-5%. I just don’t like him but he’ll have some nice matchups
8:17 |
: I need some offense and I love e. Hernandez, but Calhoun and goodrum also available….who do u like
8:17 |
: The order you have them
8:17 |
: Cozart or Goodrum in OPS league?
8:17 |
: Goodrun but it’ll really depend on the matchup
8:18 |
: Joe Musgrove going to be a starter soon?
8:18 |
: Not this next week, I need to read up to know exactly what is going on with him
8:18 |
: Rogers of the Twins worth a claim?
8:19 |
: Yes
8:19 |
: Chirinos or shoemaker?
8:19 |
: Shoe
8:19 |
: Ramon Laureano a 5 OF hold in 10-team, or too shallow?
8:20 |
: He’s a bench for now but my patience is wearing thin already with him
8:20 |
: Daniel Murphy: argh, hold or cut in 10-team? I’ve already got Kershaw occupying my IL slot.
8:20 |
: He may be a cut. Possibly a trade to team with an open IL slot
8:20 |
: He’s got to be one of the top IL options
8:20 |
: NFBC, how much do you bid on strong weekly streamers? Say a Shoemaker this week (home Orioles sstart)
8:22 |
: 1% to 3%. The deal with Shoe is that he may be worth keeping past just this week
8:22 |
: Should I consider brett Anderson,Alcantara, or the padres latest rookie over my last 2 spots (lynn, minor), 14 team, roster 28, qs+1/2 win h2h weekly category
8:22 |
: Get “that Padres rookie” and Alcantara over Lynn and Minor
8:23 |
: Matt Strahm: hold or stream in 10-team?
8:23 |
: Hold for now
8:23 |
: Yu Darvish droppable in shallow 10-team with plenty of streamables on the wire?
8:24 |
: It would be tough for me to do it but I understand if a team needs to.
8:24 |
: Unsure of my Utility. Whose upside do you like most between Josh Bell, Eduardo Escobar, Ryan McMahon, and Kolten Wong?
8:24 |
: McMahon, Escobar, Bell, Wong
8:25 |
: Did something happen to straham that he might be droppable
8:25 |
: 10-team is pretty shallow so I could see him be near the bottom
8:25 |
: Thoughts on Caleb Smith? I’m afraid of missing out on the young guy movement but afraid of a Phillies/Braves week too.
8:26 |
: He’s going to see a lot of the Phillies and Braves. If you don’t feel good about starting him, just go ahead and let him stay on the wire
8:27 |
: Mikel Franco. Anything to see here? Thanks in advance Jeff! So happy baseball is back
8:27 |
: Not sure at all. I think he needs new scenery.
8:27 |
: Did MLB deaden the baseballs (except in Seattle)? Lots of guys have pitched fantastic already that you would not have anticipated.
8:28 |
: I think pitchers are way ahead of hitters is so many aspects of the game that hitters are still fighting a losing battle
8:28 |
: Dump W.Castillo for A.Barnes?
8:29 |
: Sure
8:29 |
: H2H OPS Keepers league: Moncada or C Hernandez? C Hernandez is my 2b.
8:29 |
: Since a keeper league , grab Moncada and see if he finally breaks out
8:32 |
: That’s it for this week. I’ll have an article out early in the week on players dropped in the NFBC Main Event.

Why are you so high on Austin Barnes?
EDIT: Okay, I see in C rankings he’s #12 behind Wellington #10 and Cervelli #11, but I don’t see why those 2 above him would be natural drops after Barnes hit 1 HR.
