Brad Johnson: So initially, he was hitting way more fly balls with a sharp increase in power. Lately, he’s been shifting back towards grounders. Also leaning on a 27.1% HR/FB%

Brad Johnson: Now, given the home park and a 40 percent fly ball rate, he can still easily reach 30 HR

Brad Johnson: but there is reason to have some doubt

Nelson: Should we still consider Villar as a 3rd roundish talent?

Brad Johnson: No

Brad Johnson: He’s a mid-round guy due to the upside and speed

Bo: Is it reasonable to drop Carlos Santana in a 12-team 5×5 mixed H2H? He’s still so high in a lot of expert rankings and I just don’t see why. I’d be dropping him to open a utility spot for Mitch Haniger when he’s off the DL.

Brad Johnson: That’s a ridiculous comp. I don’t know where it’s coming from.

Anthony: As a league manager in a competitive league…you’re saying that IF two members in your league agreed on a “Mike Trout for Jed Lowrie” deal you’d kick one or both of them out? Would you veto that trade as well?

Brad Johnson: The guy getting Lowrie is probably gone. Trade would be rescinded and the roster locked until a new owner is brought up to speed

Brad Johnson: We have a manual trade recision process. They’d get a chance to say “oh wait” before I booted ’em

Crazy 8: Are you buying Eduardo Rodriguez? Think he outperforms Porcello RoS?

Brad Johnson: Yes and no. Injuries or something will get in the way of ERod keeping up this pace

Brad Johnson: Porcello is relatively safe, he’s in the survivor land where injury rules don’t apply in the same way

Carson: Thoughts on Story with him coming off the DL? You think he will be better?

Brad Johnson: He will have multiple 5 HR weeks per season

Brad Johnson: I’ll say that much

TP for my Byung Ho: Thoughts on using all of your bench spots for pitchers in a deep h2h league with holds? 8 active pitcher spots and 5 bench spots. I’m currently using all 8 for relievers with five really good starters.

Brad Johnson: That’s one approach. There’s no one-size-fits-all

Brad Johnson: As long as you’re still carrying a couple offensive categories each week, you should do well

Brad Johnson: My own approach is to pump 80% of budget into pitching

KB: Hard to hold anymore faith in Cutch in my 10 teamer. Would you drop him to stash Starling Marte? OPS league.

Brad Johnson: If I’m going to drop him, I’d rather it be for an active player

Choos on First: Zobrist has been on a hot streak and is still managing a .252/.347/.443 line, it seems like the cliff may be off in the distance still

Brad Johnson: I hope so, he was one of the first breakouts I hyped.

Brad Johnson: I still like him. Plus I’m a sucker for guys who walk more than they strike out.

HappyFunBall: I’m starting Bellinger over Upton and so far so good. Should I believe enough to just trade him (Upton) away?

Brad Johnson: I’m trying to trade Upton in my RotoBaller staff league… mostly because he’s good and I have too much OF depth

Matt: Re: the Rhys Hoskins hype, how is the guy any different than Tommy Joseph was a year ago!? An older RHH 1B without much prospect pedigree raking in AAA. I don’t see how the Phillies could possibly bench Joseph for Hoskins unless Joseph is struggling mightily, which he’s not currently.

Brad Johnson: Hoskins is definitely a better prospect. That’s not to say he’s definitely better than Joseph. Being a good prospect is subtly different than being a good baseball player

Alex Wood: Am I a buy-high or sell-high candidate?

Brad Johnson: Both! I’m a big believer in the breakout, but you very much have to be worried about injuries

Moltar: Story or Villar ROS?

Brad Johnson: Need homers or steals? Probably rating them very similarly

Brad Johnson: No

Brad Johnson: Comps usually shouldn’t be top 10 players

Brad Johnson: I remember laughing at Jurickson Profar getting comped to Mike Trout back in the day.

Brad Johnson: Then Byron Buxton getting comp to… Mike Trout

Brad Johnson: I’m trying to think of who I’d actually comp Bellinger to… drawing a blank

Brad Johnson: There’s definitely some Chris Davis in there, but that overstates the whiffs

two out sacrifice: any worry about Haniger picking up where he left off? Obviously the AVG and BABIP will regress, but think he is solid (top 25 OF) ROS?

Brad Johnson: given what we know about Correa’s 2016 – his performance dropped precipitously anytime he was banged up – this would make perfect sense

Pie: I currently have the not so bad problem of being forced to sit 2 useful players (Mark Reynolds at home, Bregman, HanRam, Ellsbury, Avisail Garcia) due to some luck in free agent acquisitions/roster construction. I could use another top end pitcher, but my league mates are all currently not interested in anything close to market value for their aces. Should I sit tight in case of injury, or pay the premium to acquire an ace?

Brad Johnson: I am going to go on a tangent about the relative value of aces this year

Brad Johnson: there are, what, less than 10 actual aces in baseball right now?

Brad Johnson: plus a bunch of guys with the track record and poor results

Brad Johnson: and a bundle of new ones like Wood and Paxton

Brad Johnson: pitchers remain a terrible investment – they break all the time

Brad Johnson: even Bumgarner broke

Brad Johnson: but… if you have multiple aces in this season where the waiver wire is stuffed to the brim with hitters, you’re going to finish near the top of your league

Brad Johnson: my co-owner told me to look at Anderson’s recent performance. I haven’t yet
