Wanted: Hitters Who Played Through an 2023 Injury

For the last half dozen or so seasons I’ve attempted to collect the hitters who have played through an injury this season. These banged-up guys underperformed their projection by ~20 points of OPS the next season. That works out to a 5% drop in production. What I need is help trying to collect all the possible batters while this season is still fresh in everyone’s mind. Here are the names I have so far: Read the rest of this entry »

Nick: Do you throw Rodon @KC? I’m close in wins, ERA, and WHIP but it seems like a big gamble with Rodon down in velo today despite okay results.

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: Depends on the other options. I understand your hesitation.

Waiver Wire Report (Week 27)

In the article, I cover the players using CBS’s (about 40% or less initial roster rate) and Yahoo’s ADD/DROP rates. Both hosting sites have the option for daily and weekly waiver wire adds. CBS uses a weekly change while Yahoo looks at the last 24 hours. Yahoo is a great snapshot of right now while CBS ensures hot targets from early in the week aren’t missed. The players are ordered for redraft leagues by my rest-of-season preference grouped by starters, relievers, and hitters. Read the rest of this entry »

Big Kid Adds (Week 26)

While the NFBC Main Event garners most of the attention, there are a handful of leagues with an even larger entry fee ($2.5K to $15K). They were originally named “High Stakes Leagues” and this year there are nine of them. With so much money on the line, these fantasy managers are going to try to gain any advantage. Most of the time, these managers will be a week or two ahead of everyone else on their adds. Here are the players and some information on the ones added in four or more of these leagues. Mining the News (9/14/23)

• An article by The Athletic covers a breakout player on every team. Give the entire piece a read-through since I can’t highlight all the comments.

• Korea’s Jung-hoo Lee 이정후 is expected to sign with a major league club this offseason.

Kim and Jung-hoo Lee, who is expected to be posted by the Heroes this offseason, belong to a different group of players.

It remains to be seen whether Kim stays an outlier or represents the beginning of a new pipeline. Lee, his close friend and the 2022 KBO MVP, could be next, and Kim has spoken openly about his interest in a reunion. San Diego, not coincidentally, is viewed as a strong candidate to sign the outfielder.
