If it’s any consolation, I was among the 67 percent of rosters that included Brendan McKay (-3.10 points). He was my most heartily touted pick yesterday, and I stand by the process that led me to him. Bad things happen to good people.

One, Two, Three, FOURTEEN!

An abject lesson in catcher framing.

My poll results:

.250 ISO— Brad Johnson (@BaseballATeam) August 15, 2019
Notice, these are IDENTICAL polls. In Tom’s, he displays Hitter A as having a higher average. In mine, I emphasize Hitter B’s greater ISO. In both cases, half of the voting public preferred the player with the higher stat. Indeed, framing is important.

I used starmaths (aka FanGraphs Guts!) to solve Tom Tango’s misleading poll question.

Many things are disgusting when you split them apart. Like today’s DFS slate.

We chatted. Behold, a transcript.

: We’ll get started in a few moments

: A note: I’d like to *not* field many keeper questions if you don’t mind. I know there’s an interest in looking ahead at the offseason around this time of year, but there’s plenty of present action to discuss

: How do you like the Brewer version of J.Lyles?
|
4:01 |
: Less than the Pirates version so far. Command and SwStr% have been worse.
|
4:02 |
: I’ve been trying perhaps a little too hard to make Lyles work as a fantasy contributor over the last calendar year – mostly in 20-team formats.
|
4:02 |
: As a Brewer, he’s leaned on a .143 BABIP through 3 starts

Sometimes, writing a lede in is the last thing I want to do. Well, technically, I always write it last.
AGENDA
This is one of the foulest-looking eight-game slates I’ve ever seen.

I’m running behind because…
It's a thrilling trade deadline in The Devil's Rejects (20-team dynasty). My team is stuck in 6th place with little opportunity to climb into the money (5th and higher pays).
