MASH Report (3/26/15)
• Chris Sale expects to start on April 12th.
• Nick Franklin will at least miss a couple of weeks to start the season. It may not be until late May when he returns.
Nick Franklin (left-oblique strain) is “in that gray area,” according to Cash when asked if the infielder could be back by four to six weeks or six to eight
• One injury to monitor is Jacoby Ellsbury’s strained oblique. The team doesn’t seem worried, but he has yet to play since injuring it. It would be nice to see him in games this weekend.
Jacoby Ellsbury continues to improve. Took dry swings, played catch, ran today. Yanks believe he’ll be ready Opening Day.

• Matt Cain’s elbow still feel sore at times. His velocity seems fine (90-92 mph) after averaging 91.6 mph last season.
• A nice bounce back pick I have is the Cardinals Jaime Garcia. He has made through spring training with no issues and should make the Cards rotation. He is number four on the latest Arsenal Score and can be got for pennies on the dollars. He is owned in 4% of Yahoo! Leagues and 0.4% of ESPN leagues. It’s time to start an auction for him in my Ottoneu league.
• Joe Kelly may start the season on the DL with a bicep injury.

Good to see Kipnis back in the line up today. Hopefully he can put the back issues behind him.
Do you like Betts enough to take 60th overall instead of Kipnis/Dozier/Wong/Pedroia 80th overall? If I took Betts, I would end up with Wood/DeGrom as my second pitcher, If I waited for Kipnis/Dozier/Wong/Pedroia, I would take Cole/Arrieta instead.
Thanks Jeff!
I would very much prefer Betts and either Wood or DeGrom to any combination on the other side of the equation. Just my $.02.
Take Betts early and often.
Betances’ velo reportedly down to low 90s.
Girardi says it was down last spring, too. Any way to confirm that?
Nevermind. Google provideth.

Google is a wonderful thing
Which basically confirms the velocity is down. He pitched a lot last year, so we shall see.
I’m more interested at taking a cheap shot at Miller.
*On Miller.
Hello Jeff,
Any news on LAD Anderson velo? I thought it was down.
I couldn’t find anything.
this whole wieters thing is throwing me, any help would be appreciated. Do i jump on adding either travis d’arnaud or yasmani grandal now (sacrficing glasnow as a keeper) or wait it out until closer to the season when i can put wieters on the DL? (pretty standard 12 team ESPN league)
He will start the season on the DL, the team can’t carry two DHs.
Just wait, today is the day teams can back data DL stints to, but the stint may not happen until right before the season.
Jeff, what is your outlook for Garret Richards? Obviously a past knee injury is better than a past arm injury, so do you have much concern with him this season? Yahoo has him at #117, is that enough of a discount for missing the first couple starts of the season?
I think he is a great pickup, especially in auction leagues where you know the exact discount. I am a little leary of him, but people are giving Tanaka and Wainwright and their destroyed elbows more love
Projections for Garcia? Is he worth dropping TJ House, Paxton, Hahn or Wily Peralta in a 12 team mixed roto league?
Totally wrestling with who is best: Paxton, house, Garcia, Duffy.
Give me Paxton or Peralta over Garcia.
TJ House,Jaime,Paxton,Hahn,Wily Peralta
This is the order of upside + realistic for this yr. The last 2 could be flip flopped but I like Hahn if his new velo plays up this yr.
This order is perfect. I have grown sour on Peralta
Garcia is already complaining about his shoulder (3/28/2015). Cross him off
Any news on Jaime Garcia’s velocity? I thought I read he was down 2 MPH this spring. However I saw an article stating he threw a sim game and looked great. Any readings on his velocity?
Thanks so much for the feedback! Much appreciated!
