Field of Streams: Episode 237 – Son Of Jharel

Episode 237 – Son Of Jharel

The latest episode of “Field of Streams” is live!

In this episode, Dylan Higgins and Matthew Dewoskin discuss the beginning of Matt’s fantasy football season, Kyle Hendricks’ near no-hitter, not using Gary Sanchez against lefties, thinking twice about Clayton Richard and his success, Scott Schebler being defensible, having to believe in Ivan Nova, and catching up on the Field of Streams spreadsheet.

Deep League Waiver Wire – Cotton and Marte

Two weeks ago, I facetiously appended “Deep A.L. West-Only Leagues” to the end of my column’s title since the two players I wrote about both played in the A.L. West, specifically in Oakland. As if there are A.L. West-only leagues. Actually, are there A.L. West-only Leagues? Or any division for that matter? Do any of you play in divisional-only leagues? If so, why? And how’d you settle on your division? Please let me know in the comments because I’m dying to hear what a frustratingly unsatisfying experience that must be.

Well, this week I’m at it again championing two more unheralded and under-owned A.L. West players toiling away in fantasy obscurity, eager for the opportunity to play on a contender. Even one of the digital variety.

OttoGraphs Episode 19: Player Profiles

In this episode of OttoGraphs, Tom and Joe try out a new format, digging a little deeper on some players who are especially relevant in ottoneu, as compared to some of the other fantasy formats. Joe breaks down the case for Josh Bell and Nick Franklin, who are just a few games away from locking in valuable positional eligibility for next year, while Tom takes a look at Aaron Judge and David Dahl, two top outfield prospects who have achieved varying levels of success in the big leagues so far. Plus, we discuss some guys who are so deep on the fantasy radar that they may actually be free agents in your ottoneu league, including Dan Vogelbach (owned in 62% of leagues) Scott Schebler (16%), Dario Alvarez (only 6%, an incredible feat in ottoneu’s extra-deep format!).

[Editor’s note – I promise we didn’t know Vogelbach was about to be called up when we recorded this over the weekend!]

As a reminder, OttoGraphs is now available on iTunes! Subscribe using this link or the one below, and if you like what you hear, we’d happily accept ratings or reviews to help us reach new listeners, and potentially recruit some new Ottoneu players! Plus, don’t forget to check out the new Ottoneu Community, where discussions are really beginning to take off! Roto Riteup: September 13, 2016

It’s about that time. With under three weeks to go, you’re likely pushing up against position limits in some formats, specifically innings limits. The bar for streaming options may be a little higher in those leagues, as everything on a per-inning basis matters most. In other formats, the bar may be even lower as you scramble for counting stats without fear of a cap. It makes it a little tougher to offer blanket advice given how different everyone’s situations may be, but we try nonetheless – just make sure to contextualize any news or advice for your own situation.

MASH Report 9/12/16

Another great Monday to you all! I don’t have as many specific players to go over, but the ones I do have listed I want to go into a little more detail on.

To start with, let’s go with Stephen Strasburg and his curious elbow/forearm.

A Minor Review of 2016: Colorado Rockies

Welcome to the annual series that provides both a review of your favorite teams’ 2016 season, as well as a early look toward 2017. It also serves as a helpful guide for keeper and dynasty leagues.

Other 2016 Reviews:
San Francisco Giants

Colorado Rockies

The Graduate: David Dahl (OF): It was a great year for Colorado in terms of developing and graduating in-house talent. Shortstop Trevor Story got a lot of the headlines (and Jon Gray deserves some too) — especially early in the season — but, for me, Dahl is the more likely player to have an impact sophomore season (and avoid the dreaded sophomore jinx) and better overall career. In his prime, he could be good for 20+ homers, 20+ steals, a .300 average and solid defence. He was overly reliant on his BABIP in his big league debut but Dahl has had a history of strong BABIPs — although it’s unreasonable to expect him to top .400 again. Because he’s shown the ability to make adjustments, I fully expect him to trim the strikeout rate as he matures as a hitter.

Episode 236 – This Is The Voice Of A Sick Man

The latest episode of “Field of Streams” is live!

In this episode, Dylan Higgins and Matthew Dewoskin discuss Rich Hill’s near-perfect outing, a false alarm on A.J. Pierzynski’s retirement, Matt staying home sick and watching too much Ancient Aliens and Jersey Shore, Kyle Seager improving every year, Rickie weeks being a poor man’s Chris B. Young, Byron Buxton’s possible resurgence, and feeling weird about picking against Tyler Anderson.
