What Will Multi-Positional Eligibility Look Like in 2021?

With an abbreviated season in 2020, many leagues will have different benchmarks for positional eligibility in 2021. For instance, I am already in four different leagues that will use different games played benchmarks for position eligibility in 2021.

Most site will have a set amount. For instance, we already now NFBC is using a seven games played benchmark for their eligibility. Yahoo has previously used a five game benchmark and may decide to keep it that way. However, some leagues I am in have changed it from the tradition 20 to 10 or eight games played and I know there will be traditional leagues out there that decide that 20 games will continue to be their eligibility benchmark for 2021.

To make it a bit easier to identify the players with multi-positional eligibility, I created a spreadsheet to track every player with multi-positional eligibility for every benchmark that I have seen being played so far in early draft season (20, 10, 8, 7, and 5 games played.) I also created a separate spreadsheet for UT only players across each format. I hope this is useful for those of you playing in multiple league with different rules.

I live how Niv Shah handles position eligibility in Ottoneu. He announced early in that no players would lose any position eligibility in 2020, and all 2019 positions are carried over. Players could earn new position eligibility in 2020, but they did not lose any eligibility. That made it easier to plan ahead and make trades.

Ottoneu is by far my favourite fantasy baseball option. Niv does a great job.

My understanding is that Yahoo is doing the same, though I’ve struggled to find documentation of that.

I would love more info on your source for Yahoo.

This is what I would like to see my league do, but there still has not been a decision made. Hard to make decisions for next year about keepers and trades without knowing.

I agree with spa. Ottoneu is great, not sure why they don’t get more play on your site.
