Week 12 FAAB Projections

I feel the fantasy baseball season is at the part of the season where few “new” call-ups happen. Instead, it’s players we’ve already known about coming into and out of playing time. Garrett Cooper has been around for a couple of weeks but just now he’s seeing his ownership jump. I’ve noticed many of the movers are on 2nd or 3rd division teams. Owners are a little slow at knowing how the playing time shakes out on these sub-.500 teams. Bargains can be found in them.

The guidelines:

  • The ownership rates are from CBS since they have some quickdraw waiver wire leagues where players can be picked up at any time.
  • The FAAB estimates are based on the 2018 15-team mixed NFBC leagues which used a $1000 FAAB budget. Owners are going to need to convert these values to their own league.
  • The ownership values were taken from Saturday and lots can happen in between when they publish and FAAB bids run.
  • Only players owned in 50% or fewer of CBS leagues are examined.

  • Jay Bruce: He gets the big ownership bump (+36%) but I’m not sure why. He’s likely still in a part-time role. With this much excitement surrounding him, just pass and pick him up off the waiver wire in two weeks for a $1.
  • Bryan Reynolds: He should be owned in every league. There is no reason to own Bruce if Reynolds is still on the wire.
  • Garrett Cooper: IMO, Cooper should also be owned before Bruce based solely on Cooper playing every day. Get him this week before his price jumps to the Reynolds level.
  • Delino DeShields: With Joey Gallo hurt, he is almost starting every day in center field. His stolen base potential means he must be owned in all Roto leagues.
  • Elias Diaz: Any catcher hitting near .300 should be owned.
  • Brandon Belt, Kevin Kiermaier, Niko Goodrum, Scott Kingery, Josh Reddick, Howie Kendrick, Renato Nunez, and Christian Walker: I’m seeing some regulars starting to hit the waiver wire. Fantasy owners need to not overlook them as a few will heat up and become productive. Boring can be good.

  • Last week, owners had to decide about rostering Zach Plesac based on one MLB start. Now he has three starts and his cost has jumped.
  • If a pitcher was going to get the label as token replacement pitcher, it’s Chase Anderson. He seems to be rostered and dropped every week.
  • Dakotah Hudson gets the powder puff schedule this week with games at the Marlins and Mets.

With McCutchen out for the season and Herrera sidelined, Jay Bruce is likely to play every day.

Who is going to play everyday over Bruce? Lol. They don’t even have minor league players who aren’t hurt.

Furthermore according to my calculations he is 96th in overall player rankings, and top 50 for hitters. He was rosterable even before this. And never wasn’t.
