Love Kiriloff. I’m with you on the underlying numbers portending better results but he also just looks so composed at the plate and not flustered at all. The one game that really impressed me was him going 2-3 off Rodon on 7/6 and they weren’t cheapies either. The 2 hits were 99.2 and 104.9 mph and even the out was a not horrible 87.1 mph. That’s 3 good PA against a tough lefty throwing 97+. In fact, at present he is much, much better against lefties than righties. I wouldn’t expect it to continue like that but pretty clearly he has no platoon issues.

One note on the Twins – you didn’t mention him but they also will have to figure out how squeeze in Sano and what’s interesting is how much of a platoon bat Sano has become. He has started only 11 of the Twins’ last 21 games – 7 against lefties and 4 against righties, but 2 of the ones against righties were filling in for Cruz when he missed a couple games (want to say he tweaked his back trying to leg out a double or something like that). The Twins seem pretty committed to getting Kiriloff and Larnach PA no matter whether it’s righties or lefties as the 2 more or less split days where they sit against a lefty (even though Kiriloff is MUCH better against lefties than Larnach). Have to agree that the most likely outcome is Cruz being dealt and Sano moving to DH and Kiriloff and Larnach both getting everyday PA. Also, Simmons is a FA so moving both him and Cruz should open up everyday room all around.
