Winker doesn’t play vs. lefties

Prior to last year, you were right. But in 2020, Winker saw 22.4% (41/183) of his PAs vs. LHPs; for context, Mike Trout saw 26% of his PAs vs. LHPs.

Small sample to be sure, but Winker also had a very solid .890 OPS vs. LHP , so he may not be platooned much moving forward.

Now if he could just stay healthy…

This was a season where the rest of their OF collapsed, so he got a chance. There is little reason to believe that he’ll maintain these stats against LHPs given his .617 career OPS vs. LHPs. After all, it was only 41 AB!
