It is helpful to understand what players’ injuries are doing to their production. Mondesi was a prime example of no one realizing how much the shoulder hurt him. There just was no talk about this being a concern and everyone was saying he is unplayable without putting the injury into that context. Had the injury recovery been added to his value, we would have seen a different evaluation and there would be a lot more patience.
