No Ketel Marte? He could arguably go ahead of Crawford or even Polanco or Anderson on the SS list and up past Kipnis on the 2nd base list since Marte will be at the keystone this year. That means dual eligibility for him which would make em all the more intriguing. As for others, Ceaser Hernandez should be up past DeJong or Villar…at least. DeJong, Taylor, Kinsler, Anderson, Polanco all underperformers this year
Villar is going to have a bounce back season
Man, you totally beat me to the ‘what about the one guy you didn’t mention in 2 + hours of podcast, dammit Paul’.
I get that they’re not the same, and I do really like Albies, but man you guys made me nervous here – in the same ep you talked about being excited about Albies’ 50 games last year, and then reminded me that last year we were excited about 50 games of Peraza…
I was never excited about Peraza. The big difference between the two is that Albies is actually good.
I’m in on Albies but c’mon these floor projections are hyperbole. He’s 21. The true floor would be that he struggles for 150-200 at bats, gets demoted by the end of May, doesn’t see the majors again until 2019, and is completely useless to you in 2018. I’m not saying that’s likely but it’s certainly a realistic possibility for a 21 year old with only 50 games in the majors.
I mean, sure, anyone can flop. But you said yourself it’s not likely, so why even bring it up? We’re all aware of the risks. If it was risk-free, he’d be 50 picks higher.
Peraza does not have close to the same plate skills as Albies. You cannot fully appreciate Albies until you have watched him.
Paul, you mentioned on a couple podcasts about your thoughts that the Red Sox as a team may be reluctant to run and how it relates to Eduardo Nunez’ value. Do you have any idea if this may change with Alex Cora?
