A huge Yankees fan pushing the fake news story of Frazier asking for Mantle’s #7? Suzyn Waldman apologized to Frazier for that story.
That whole bit about him and Sanchez was both guys talking completely out of their asses, good God.
lol this comment adds a lot!
He’s not wrong, he’s just an asshole. The segment about Sanchez having no future at catcher because of his ego (based on one event) combined with the fact that Frazier was going to be good because of his ego was…hard to listen to. Sprinkle in the whole Japanese Tanaka=honor and family bit…just saying, not up to the usual standards we have for the pod.
“Not wrong, just an asshole” is definitely my aesthetic.
The idea of just dismissing it out of hand because you don’t agree with it is hilarious
I wasn’t dismissing it because I disagree,I was dismissing it because of the obvious racial stereotypes.
Wait, what? How? So *any* comment on a player’s attitude is racially slanted? That’s absolutely insane. You’re deciding to make it racial, don’t project that crap onto others.
The idea of dismissing it out of hand because you don’t agree with it is hilarious.
Ignore me if you want, but as a Hispanic baseball fan I’ve seen way too many instances of intense hispanic baseball players being labeled as “distractions” or “selfish” while white players are “leaders”. Ian’s back to back *analysis* of Sanchez and Frazier really highlighted it. Beyond that, it’s just not the analysis we’ve come to expect from you guys. Eno would be the first one to tell you where playing armchair psychologist gets you.
You’ve done an awesome job of carrying the pod with Eno and Jason away, I’d personally prefer more solo pods, although I know they can’t be fun or easy.
They’re extremely fun and I love them. I’m very aware of how Latino players get mis-labeled as problems even when they’re not (I think Puig gets a completely bullshit rap), but I didn’t find this to be the case.
I was phone-posting, which was probably not the wisest decision, but as Botons said, the Frazier rumor was debunked weeks ago, and the whole thing about Sanchez being on the outs with Girardi/the coaching staff was shut down the night of. http://nypost.com/2017/06/29/yankees-back-up-gary-sanchez-whos-under-fire-for-first-time/
Even if it was true, I think Ian’s reaction to in fantasy terms was also ridiculous because they’re not going to send him down, and he’s hitting .289/.376/.517, is that really somebody you don’t want on your fantasy roster because maybe he has “makeup issues”?
Also the idea that because he’s like Posada he can’t be a cornerstone on the team seems…wrongheaded given that Posada is part of the “Core Four.” And Ian saying he drafts Yadi because he’s good with pitchers? It just didn’t make sense and like Starburns said, you guys are smarter than sounding like drive-time WFAN or something.
