Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:41
Eric: Any SPs you think might lose starts once their team clinches?

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s tough to tell at this point

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: The teams that have clinch have the off days to set up their rotations so no breaks. I think it will more likely be the wild card teams who have clinched and want to make sure their aces go from the start

7:43
JACK: Garcia in Houston will lose starts

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: And thanks for waiting through the delay. My computer just locked up.

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are this week’s Tout Wars FAAB bids.

7:45
Seanold: Also, would you drop Raleigh for another C? Injury reoccured today, worried about missing PAs

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, depends on your options. The wire seems dry with people adding Conteras replacements

7:46
Seanold: Hi Jeff, thanks for taking the time on another Sunday. Got a 15 team roto league with 1st-6th in runs seperated by 6, so I’m putting most of my remaining FAAB into chasing Rs. Rank my run options: Daza, JP Crawford, Straw, Oswaldo Cabrera, Lamonte

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: JP Crawford, Daza … the other Cabrera … the others don’t matter

7:48
Groking: Which Met this week, Bassitt, Carrasco or Walker?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: According to Razzball, Carrasco, Walker, then Bassitt

7:49
Ryan: Chasing wins, any RPs to take a shot for the final 10 days?

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: Glasnow, he’s a follower

7:51
Dave in slc: Anyone you can think of who has been called up and not likely on a roster now for AL or nl only keepers who may be good next ur so worth bidding on this yr?

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Really? Talk about the world’s most vague question.

7:51
Jeff: Hey Jeff, 10 team NL only league–for last SP considering M. Kelly, Grove, Falter or Elder (last 2 have 2 starts left).  Thoughts?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Elder

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Reasonable starts if you can handle the walks

7:52
JACK: Do you trust Civale for win or ERA

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: No, but I’m having to role him out in a few places because he’s the best option.

7:53
Fudgel: Favorites (for NL only) from Vierling, Bae, Siani, Tovar, and Vientos

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably Tovar

7:53
Owen: Thanks for the help all year.

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: You are welcome Owen

7:53
rush: any under the radar catchers to stream next week? noticed you mentioned jansen but he is owned in my league. Fortes?

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: I’ve been using Nick Fortes for a while

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: 25% rostered in NFBC OC’s

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: Ghomes with Conteras out

7:55
Karl: Do you anticipate Tyler O’Neill being activated this week? Haven’t seen an update. Thank you.

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: I do expect it but he’s going to get babied

7:56
Guest: Would you ever consider sitting all your pitchers in a h2h league if you had a great era/whip and sizeable leads in other cayegories after week 1? Or is that against the spirit of the game?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure, take the chance. The rules are the rules

7:56
Devil Ray Jay Johnson: Thanks for the chats and the help for winning my league. What was your favorite pickup of the year?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: Jake McCarthy

7:59
The Batman: In a SOLDS league, would you punt that category in favor of streamers if your opponent in the final has a clear advantage in that category? i.e. two more high quality relievers already.

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure. Also, I don’t know the size of your benches, but you can add bunch of closers looking like you might compete and he might even add in another reliever

8:00
Guest: Not a question for you, but I keep asking myself why I started Miley over Kelly or Lodolo

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Over Lodolo … I’m not sure.

8:00
Devil Ray Jay Johnson: Which waiver wire guy you hyped crashed and burned the worst?

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: Recently, I thought Steer would be better.

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: I was all in with Chris Paddack

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: That lasted about a week.

8:03
Devil Ray Jay Johnson: Paddack lasted a week

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: The worst

8:03
Here’s a vague question: Thoughts?

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t know, that’s a tough call

8:04
Purple Mays Haze: Where do you find out who the “follower” is? I’m asking mostly because I didn’t realize that Glasnow was following this week – but also a general question for finding that info…

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: Rotowire starting pitcher grid.

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: Let me grab a screen shot

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman:

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: Rotowire and Razzball are the two sources I will gladly pay for during the season. Well worth the time saved.

8:07
Devil Ray Jay Johnson: You’re in an only league auction next March. You’re running out of money and need SB. Raul Mondesi is thrown out and is penciled in to start for KC. There’s no immediate action. Do you bid?

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: No more than a dollar or two

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: In an only, you need stability

8:08
KCbbq: Kerry Carpenter has performed pretty well for the Tigers and has been hitting in the 4-6 holes. Is he a starter in 2023? Got him for $1 in AL only.

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: Now, that was someone I was wrong on. He starting playing and hitting and then the Tigers just sat him

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: I think it’s worth a chance to roster him

8:09
Purple Mays Haze: But doesn’t that show Cleavinger as the primary pitcher?

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, you’re right

8:09
C . Javier: Am I getting a start this week?

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: I think so for now, probably on Sunday

8:10
Bo Bo: Playoff bound: which 2 to pick up Mountcastle, Gunnar, Jung? Also Ober someone to consider with his 2 starts? Thank you Jeff for the effort you put in all year and the opinion you give fantasy guys like me.

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: I using Ober everywhere, grab him last week for these two starts

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go with Mount and Gunnar

8:10
Seanold: Where would Bradish rank amongst your Waiver Wire SP?

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Not high

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe ahead of Lorenzen

8:11
KCbbq: Picked up Torkelson for $1 couple weeks ago in 12 team AL only. What’s your expectation for him for 2023?

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: He has been all over the place. I’m going to have to deep dive into him.

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: His strikeouts are down, but I’m not sure why. That’s why there is an offseason

8:14
Randy West: Would you start Ober or Roansy for 2 starts over a single start of Fried, Verlander, Cole, Rodon?

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go with the single starts

8:14
Andrew: Somehow made the finals in my league. These chats and your weekly waiver wire column have been invaluable tools. Thank you!

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: You are welcome Andrew

8:15
Devil Ray Jay Johnson: Anyone who didn’t run much this year who you think will run more next year?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: Predicting SB is going to be a mess this season with all the new rules.

8:16
Randy West: Hey Jeff, entering second week of H2H points championship. Thanks for your help all year…. My pitching is strong but I’m really lacking in two starters this week.  Do you usually roll with your best pitchers regardless of matchup or do you consider matchups MORE this time of year. Example: Carrasco vs Mia or Cole @ Toronto?

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: That’s why I use the Razzball projection. They give the expected stats for the start(s) and then value them.

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Right now Ober is valued at $16 and Cole at $14.

8:19
Steve in NYC: 15 tm NFBC, pls rank Civale, B Garrett, F Peralta, M Grove, & J Wentz for the remainder. Thanks.

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: Most are in my waiver wire article. Grove is last. Peralta first and the other two between them

8:20
Devil Ray Jay Johnson: We all have one: Which player could you not pull the trigger on even though the projections suggested you should at that price?

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: Judge

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m still irritated about it.

8:21
rush: in nfbc OC do you find that it’s more helpful to roster more bench hitters than usual the next two weeks to give you options since this is the last week for two-start streaming pitchers

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: No, I’m adding pitchers for that last week. If I need Saves, I’m looking at the backups for the four teams with double-headers (Tigers, Yankees, Mariners, and Rangers)

8:22
Deep six the ghost runner: Is Razzball the most under-rated fantasy baseball site?  Thanks for all your help this year

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s worth the $1 a week in time saved

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: I do like Masterball preseason

8:23
Bart: how many innings do you think Hunter Brown, Bryce Elder, and Kyle Muller get this week?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Four, maybe five

8:24
Devil Ray Jay Johnson: DON’T MAKE ME LEARN THE NAME OF ANOTHER TIGERS RELIEVER

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: I didn’t even rank one since they won’t get a Win. Also, they aren’t talented.

8:25
John: For the last 9 days Canha, D. Villar, or TJ Friedl? Thanks, Jeff for your good work!

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: I like Villar

8:25
Devil Ray Jay Johnson: Dayton Moore has extra time on his hands and asks to join your league. Do you let him?

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: Hell yes and I’m getting hair implants in my palms.

8:26
Guest: Re: adding a bunch of relievers to look like you’re competing. I did that. Opponent adjusted and added relievers too. Swapped in a bunch of starters right before games locked and ended up winning it all.

8:27
Tim: Would you drop Raleigh for Jansen with the thumb issue this week?

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, you might have the space to have both

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: That’s it for this week. Good luck over the final days.
