Starting Pitcher Streamers for Sat 10/1

This will be my final starting pitcher streamers article of the season and sadly, my final article of the regular season. So if you’re in the thick of the championship run, let’s take a gander at some of the starting pitchers you should consider streaming that are likely to be available in your league.

Adam Conley @ WAS

Conley’s ERA is deceiving, as his SIERA stands nearly a full run higher. You can’t necessarily point to anything that stands out that has allowed him to outperform his SIERA, except his LOB% is a bit high and HR/FB rate below average. His control has been his biggest issue, but as I mentioned in previous streamer reports, that’s the least of my concerns for one game. His slider has been elite this year, generating both swings and misses and ground balls, while his changeup has been excellent as well, inducing the same combination. The only worry is he faces a Nationals team that has posted the fifth highest wOBA against lefties and the second highest ISO. But being that the Nats have already clinched the division, it’s possible Conley faces the team’s “B” lineup.

Wade Miley @ NYY

Not for the faint of heart, Miley has been done in by the long ball this year thanks to an inflated 165 HR/FB rate. His career mark, though, is right around the league average, so it’s not an issue that he has struggled with in the past. So I’m going to call it bad luck and focus on his SIERA, which isn’t particularly good at 4.29, but far more acceptable than his ugly 5.40 ERA. The Yankees have been pretty bad against left-handers this year, posting a .306 wOBA, which ranks just 24th in baseball. Although the team has struck out infrequently against southpaws, they have shown limited power and posted a below average BABIP.

Archie Bradley vs SD

After 33 starts and 170.1 Major League innings, it’s probably still far too early to call Bradley a bust. But so far, he has been quite the disappointment. We knew control would be a problem, but his curve ball has been pretty good, generating whiffs and a ton of ground balls. His strikeout rate has just been league average this year, but in any given game, he certainly possesses the upside to rack up the punchouts. And the Padres are the perfect team to stream against. They rank last in baseball in wOBA with a pathetic .290 mark and have struck out at the second highest clip. The team has also posted the second lowest BABIP. If there was ever a time to stream/start Bradley, this is it.

Unfortunately, it seems that a bunch of teams have not yet decided on their Saturday starters yet and it’s also possible that several currently scheduled starters will not end up making their start. So as we head into the day, feel free to ask about additional pitchers in the comments.

I’m seeing Wei-Yin Chen as Miami’s probable starter for Saturday. What’s your source for Adam Conley getting the start?
