Starting Pitcher Chart – September 7th

Daily SP Chart archive
The chart includes their season performance, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness over the last 30 days, my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues, and then a note about them. Obviously, there are league sizes beyond those three so it’s essentially a shallow, medium, deep. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s basically a risky stream for those spots.
These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more value focusing on roto.

RK | PITCHER | GAME | 10 | 12 | 15+ | IP | ERA | WHIP | K-BB | wOBA RK L30/Season | NOTE |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Luis Castillo | SEA at TBR | x | x | x | 169.1 | 3.19 | 1.03 | 21% | 2nd/4th | |
2 | Max Fried | ATL v STL | x | x | x | 60.2 | 2.52 | 1.15 | 20% | 22nd/16th | |
3 | Ryan Pepiot | LAD at MIA | x | x | x | 14 | 1.29 | 0.71 | 23% | 19th/23rd | Should continue to start down the stretch making him viable everywhere |
4 | Carlos Rodón | NYY v DET | x | x | x | 42.2 | 5.70 | 1.34 | 9% | 24th/26th | Made it 5 IP last time out and even notched a W! |
5 | Eduardo Rodriguez | DET at NYY | x | x | x | 124.1 | 3.11 | 1.12 | 18% | 3rd/7th | With NYY’s strength vL, there may some spots where you want skip if you’re protecting |
6 | Javier Assad | CHC v ARI | x | x | 87 | 2.69 | 1.18 | 10% | 10th/11th | Has a 1.95 ERA/1.03 WHIP in his L6, though just a 12% K-BB; streamable anywhere, but still need to be careful | |
7 | Griffin Canning | LAA v CLE | x | x | 104.2 | 4.30 | 1.19 | 20% | 25th/22nd | Quietly doing well since returning from the IL: 3.60 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 29% K-BB | |
8 | Braxton Garrett | MIA v LAD | x | x | 140 | 3.86 | 1.15 | 20% | 8th/4th | It’s the Dodgers so I don’t blame anyone for skipping, but I’m inclined to take the shot | |
9 | Zack Littell | TBR v SEA | x | 63.1 | 4.69 | 1.26 | 16% | 3rd/13th | 3 straight 4 ER outings in a row has pushed his to 4.30 as a starter | ||
10 | Ryne Nelson | ARI at CHC | 125 | 5.47 | 1.46 | 8% | 21st/9th | ||||
11 | Cal Quantrill | CLE at LAA | 73 | 6.16 | 1.51 | 5% | 28th/10th | ||||
12 | Adam Wainwright | STL at ATL | 83.1 | 8.10 | 1.98 | 3% | 6th/1st |
I would be willing to give Quantrill a look in deeper leagues; LAA’s offense is much weaker without Trout and with Ohtani not being at full capacity because of his oblique injury.
