Starting Pitcher Chart – September 12th, 2022

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

I started this in early-September last year and it seemed to be useful so it’s time to bring back the Daily SP Chart!

The chart will include their performance over the last five starts, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness, and then my start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues. These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more value focusing on roto.

Let’s go secure some titles!

Monday’s Starters
PITCHER TM OPP THR 10 12 15+ L5 STATS OPP wOBA L30 days NOTE
Framber Valdez HOU at DET L x x x 1.77 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 20% K-BB .324 – 13th Big opportunity for the AL’s premiere workhorse
Reid Detmers LAA at CLE L x x x 3.81 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, 16% K-BB .301 – 19th A couple hiccups (DET/HOU) around 3 gems
Tyler Anderson LAD at ARI L x x x 2.78 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 11% K-BB .268 – 29th As good as ARI’s been vR, they’ve been equally as bad vL
Chris Bassitt NYM CHC R x x x 2.59 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 13% K-BB .297 – 19th Curious to see where he goes next yr off 573 great IP since 2018
Spencer Strider ATL at SFG R x x x 1.45 ERA, 0.74 WHIP, 32% K-BB .296 – 20th Wright was originally listed, but it’s Strider… both auto-starts either way!
Trevor Rogers MIA TEX L x x x 3.00 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 26% K-BB .355 – 5th Stats in 2 GS since return; I’m ready to get hurt again!
Braxton Garrett MIA TEX L x x x 3.62 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 21% K-BB .355 – 5th Only 46 pitches in rehab outing so if you need Ws/QS, might want to pass
Jon Gray TEX at MIA R x x x 3.46 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 23% K-BB .279 – 28th 1st start off the IL, but elite matchup so I’m very open to it
Eduardo Rodriguez DET HOU L x x 3.68 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 9% K-BB .334 – 10th There is some upside, but also MAJOR downside
Glenn Otto TEX at MIA R x x 3.51 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 5% K-BB .279 – 28th Matchup drives the interest here
Mike Minor CIN PIT L x 4.50 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, 10% K-BB .298 – 22nd There are worse Hail Marys out there (1-2 ER in ea. of L3)
Alex Cobb SFG ATL R x 2.17 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 14% K-BB .326 – 7th Surviving a .329 BABIP & 9 H/9… ATL can ruin that
José Berríos TOR TBR R x 5.40 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 12% K-BB .323 – 9th Severe downside regardless of opponent
Ryan Yarbrough TBR at TOR L 4.08 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 17% K-BB .345 – 8th In a follower role and averaging just over 3 IP per outing … made the list before seeing he threw 5 on Sunday… it’ll be Cooper Criswell?
Javier Assad CHC at NYM R 2.93 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 7% K-BB .330 – 6th There’s a tinge of intrigue, but not v. NYM
Ryne Nelson ARI LAD R 7 shutout IP in MLB debut .342 – 1st Excellent at SDP, but I’d be terrified to take this shot
Bryse Wilson PIT at CIN R 6.85 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 7% K-BB .316 – 10th No.
Konnor Pilkington CLE LAA L 4.43 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, 1% K-BB .320 – 15th LAA no longer a team to pick on with lefties now that Trout is back
