Starting Pitcher Chart – June 16th, 2025

Daily SP Chart archive

The chart includes their performance for 2025, their opponent’s wOBA rank versus the pitcher’s handedness from this year so far, my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues, and then a note about them. Obviously, there are league sizes beyond those three so it’s essentially a shallow, medium, deep. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s a much riskier stream for those spots.

These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more valuable focusing on roto.

Starter Notes June 16, 2025
RK PITCHER GAME 10 12 15+ IP ERA WHIP K-BB 2025 wOBA RK NOTE
1 Clarke Schmidt NYY v LAA x x x 55 3.60 1.24 15% 24th Hasn’t allowed >3 ER since the 5 ER on 4/21 and has gone fewer than 5 IP just 1x in those 8 starts
2 Zach Eflin BAL at TBR x x x 53 4.08 1.09 14% 13th 3 straight QS after 12 ER in 2 starts has instilled  confidence here
3 Ryan Pepiot TBR v BAL x x x 81 3.31 1.14 15% 2nd After 8 HRs thru 5, he’s allowed just 5 in his L9 though I still have some nerves for his home starts
4 Dylan Cease SDP at LAD x x x 75 4.28 1.30 21% 29th B2B LAD starts isn’t fun, but he absolutely dealt v. them last time out: 7 IP/0 ER/11 Ks and it’s just really hard to sit a talent like this bc when you do, he does drops gems like this
5 Jake Irvin WSN v COL x x x 83 4.21 1.25 8% 23rd Was rolling w/3 straight QS in mid-May; has gone just 5 IP in his L3 w/13 ER (7.80 ERA), but COL is the perfect Rx for any SP
6 Mick Abel PHI at MIA x x x 15 2.35 1.11 18% 8th Survived v. CHC (4 IP/3 ER) in a start we were skipping anyway; would like to see the Ks again after just 5 in his last 2 starts
7 Lance McCullers Jr. HOU at ATH x x 29 4.91 1.43 17% 7th Classic McCullers volatility as 4 BB spoiled his outing v. CHW (5 IP/4 ER) but he remains startable in a lot of spots even in a tough venue like this
8 Logan Gilbert SEA v BOS x x 30 2.37 0.79 32% 9th Not a must-start coming off the IL after nearly 2 mos. & the at CHC on the wknd isn’t terribly enticing, either
9 Ben Casparius LAD v SDP x x 44 2.86 1.02 21% 19th Set to follow Shohei and put up 4 IP last time out… could be a sneaky W play today
10 Lucas Giolito BOS at SEA x 39 5.45 1.54 10% 10th Running guardrail-to-guardrail making him tough to trust, ER by start this yr: 3, 6, 1, 6, 0, 1, 7, 0
11 Sandy Alcantara MIA v PHI 63 7.14 1.49 7% 11th B2B QS was definitely schedule-influenced (COL/at PIT) so I’m still nervous against any good tm
12 JP Sears ATH v HOU 72 5.08 1.25 14% 5th Feel like he’s rounding into a home-sit/road-start: 6.00 ERA/1.38 WHIP at home | 4.62/1.19 on the road
13 José Soriano LAA at NYY 79 3.86 1.50 7% 3rd Coming off best start of the yr (7 IP/1 ER/12 Ks), but had his worst start the one before that (7 ER) and this is a brutal matchup w/HOU looming on the wknd, too
14 Carson Palmquist COL at WSN 22 7.77 1.82 3% 22nd
