Starting Pitcher Chart – July 3rd, 2025
John Jones-Imagn ImagesDaily SP Chart archive
The chart includes their performance for 2025, their opponent’s wOBA rank versus the pitcher’s handedness from this year so far, my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues, and then a note about them. Obviously, there are league sizes beyond those three so it’s essentially a shallow, medium, deep. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s a much riskier stream for those spots.
These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more valuable focusing on roto.
RK | PITCHER | GAME | 10 | 12 | 15+ | IP | ERA | WHIP | K-BB | 2025 wOBA RK | NOTE |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | SEA v KCR | W | x | 40 | 3.38 | 1.33 | 11% | 28th | Woo moved to Friday… could see streaming Evans in deeper formats and maaaybe chasing a W | ||
2 | Clarke Schmidt | NYY at TOR | x | x | x | 75 | 3.09 | 1.06 | 15% | 17th | Showing that last yr’s half-season of dominance had merit; add it to last yr & he has 2.96 ERA/1.12 WHIP/16% K-BB in 161 IP |
3 | Seth Lugo | KCR at SEA | x | x | x | 88 | 2.74 | 1.08 | 14% | 10th | Since DET clipped him for 4 IP in 3.3 IP off the IL, he’s allowed 4 ER in his L5 starts (28.7 IP) |
4 | Robbie Ray | SFG at ARI | x | x | x | 98 | 2.75 | 1.15 | 18% | 9th | ARI’s tough, but I just have a hard time seeing where Ray comes out of the lineup |
5 | Dustin May | LAD v CHW | W | x | x | 82 | 4.68 | 1.37 | 11% | 30th | This is a pure matchup play w/him being worth a Win chase at the very least |
6 | Brandon Walter | HOU at COL | W | x | x | 29 | 3.34 | 1.04 | 23% | 25th | He’ll need his elite control to be there for a start in Coors, but I’m giving him a shot |
7 | David Festa | MIN at MIA | W | W | x | 36 | 5.40 | 1.42 | 14% | 16th | Has bounced back from both of his 8 ER starts this yr, but the problem is that he has a pair of 8 ER starts to begin with! |
8 | Cade Horton | CHC v CLE | W | W | x | 45 | 4.80 | 1.44 | 10% | 25th | He’s finished 6 IP just 1x so it’s a classic five-and-dive which shrinks his margin for error… let’s hope he gets the 5 and the offense puts him in line for W |
9 | Chris Bassitt | TOR v NYY | x | 94 | 4.29 | 1.36 | 17% | 4th | 8 ER nightmare tanked his ERA and he’d reeled off 4 straight 6+ IP starts before that | ||
10 | José Soriano | LAA at ATL | x | 97 | 3.99 | 1.47 | 9% | 18th | Crazy back-n-forth June shows his risk, Game Scores: 17-79-70-71-14 | ||
11 | David Peterson | NYM v MIL | x | 95 | 3.30 | 1.28 | 12% | 11th | 11 BB in 4 of his 5 June starts… the other start? A shutout v. WAS… this is a risky one | ||
12 | Jose Quintana | MIL at NYM | x | 60 | 3.30 | 1.42 | 5% | 15th | Standard streamer and Q’s catching his former team at the perfect time as they were dead-last in June wOBA vL | ||
13 | Dietrich Enns | DET at WSN | W | W | 5 | 0.60 | 12% | 16th | Need to see more than 1 before I trust him for ratios, but no issue chasing the W | ||
14 | Brandon Pfaadt | ARI v SFG | W | W | 85 | 5.38 | 1.38 | 14% | 23rd | Not a terrible matchup to chase a Win… he’s got 8 of ’em despite his ugly ratios | |
15 | Luis L. Ortiz | CLE at CHC | 88 | 4.36 | 1.38 | 14% | 3rd | Can’t do it at CHC… potential 2-step next could be intriguing w/at HOU & at CHW | |||
16 | Jake Irvin | WSN v DET | 99 | 4.73 | 1.30 | 10% | 12th | ||||
17 | Eury Pérez | MIA v MIN | 16 | 6.19 | 1.50 | 6% | 15th | ||||
18 | Bryce Elder | ATL v LAA | 68 | 5.82 | 1.47 | 11% | 21st | ||||
19 | Kyle Freeland | COL v HOU | 77 | 5.56 | 1.60 | 12% | 5th | ||||
20 | Aaron Civale | CHW at LAD | 38 | 4.74 | 1.50 | 8% | 1st |
Recommendations for Roto 5×5 Leagues |
KEY
x: Standard Reco
W: Wins Chase (meaning we accept some ratio risk for a chance to salvage a dub)
Looks like it will be Logan Evans for Seattle instead of Woo today; where would you slot him?
Mariners official website says Woo still on for today, and ESPN says same. Where did you see Evans is in? I have Woo so just trying to clarify and plan. Thanks
Google either guy, it’s all over.
