podcast episoderanking (in lieu of our Friday pod) - SP Rankings (last update: 6/5 | next: Friday)
Welcome to the Daily SP Chart, click here if you’re new to get an idea of what I’m doing with these rankings.
- I’m always nervous taking on PIT with righties, but Cole has been strong over his L3 (27% K-BB) so I can’t see sitting him.
- Jax’s last start got away from him in 6th with 4 of the 7 ER but even with that, he has a 3.51 ERA/1.10 WHIP/21% K-BB in his L8.
- The tough part about Detmers is that he’s great or terrible, no in between, at least from an ER standpoint: 1-3-0-1-0-5-2-5-5-0. The composite run is still excellent: 3.34 ERA/0.96 WHIP/23% K-BB so he remains in the lineup. Plus, each of the Duds in that run came against teams who hit lefties well – at ATH, BOS, at TEX – and the trip to ATH could’ve easily been skipped given how tough that park has been this year.
- Ober is still a soft-tossing HR machine so his downside remains severe, but there’s been enough good to get him back in the lineup consistently. His last 2 Duds were very skippable, too, coming against two of the breakout offenses of the year: at PIT and at WAS.
- Fried is coming off the IL so I get it if you want to see one especially against a tough PIT offense. They’ve ascended vL, sitting 4th in wOBA over the L30 days so it’s not just righties we have to worry about with the Pirates. I generally run my aces off rip once they’re healthy, but this is one where I could see myself being cautious (I don’t have Fried anywhere to make the decision myself).
- After a bit of a June Swoon (that kinda started with his last 2 in May – 5.45 ERA in 7 starts from 5/24-6/28), King has rebounded on the surface with a 2.12 ERA/1.00 WHIP in his L3, but just a 10% K-BB supporting it. So we’re not totally out of the woods with King concerns and I can see some skips here, even if ATL’s offense has come back to Earth recently: 24th in wOBA vR since June 1st after sitting 1st from Opening Day through May.

Intro
The chart includes their performance for 2026, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness, and recently added opponent’s K% (also v. SP handedness), my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues – essentially a shallow, medium, deep league setup – and then a note about some, most, or all depending on the day. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s a much riskier stream for those spots.
These are general recommendations for standard 5×5 roto leagues, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. I usually won’t have much to write about aces who are locked into our rotations. If you want to discuss someone further, please feel free to leave a comment. I usually do a few sweeps of the comments before game time in case there are time-sensitive questions.
Color Coding:
- Green – Good Matchup (lower OPS output by SP opponent) – 21st to 30th
- Yellow – OK – 11th to 20th
- Red – Bad – 1st to 10th
Wind:
NYY – game 1: out to L center at 10, game 2: down to 9
Fenway – out to L center at 12, game 2: down to 9
Wrigley – in from center at 9, cooler too at 70* to start, 67* by game end. Bump to arms
Rain:
Coors – 25% to start, 56% by game’s end
ATL – 35-40% all day
Fenway – 26% game 1, down to 15% for game 2
Slight chances in NYY, PHI and CLE
Fun fact: the Pirates have a .324 team BABIP. The Rockies are next at .307. That .324 is the 7th highest in the last 20 years and the 4th highest non-Rockies number over that span.
How in the world is Cavalli so low?!
Coors!
And I know he handled a trip to ATH very well, but I’m not really excited to run him in Coors
Orrr he’ll cook!! I was scared off, but he and Hughes are dealing.
