Starting Pitcher Chart – April 21st, 2025

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Daily SP Chart archive

The chart includes their performance for 2025 (I changed over from 2024 #s on April 15th — a little earlier than last yr), their opponent’s wOBA rank versus the pitcher’s handedness from this year so far (this changed as of April 14th which is still a pretty small sample, but we can start attacking some cold lineups or be more careful with those performing well so far), my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues, and then a note about them. Obviously, there are league sizes beyond those three so it’s essentially a shallow, medium, deep. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s basically a riskier stream for those spots.

These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more value focusing on roto.

1 Spencer Schwellenbach ATL v STL x x x 24 2.55 0.85 18% 12th
2 Hunter Brown HOU v TOR x x x 24 1.50 0.83 20% 24th
3 Nick Lodolo CIN at MIA x x x 23 2.31 0.81 13% 7th
4 Aaron Nola PHI at NYM x x x 21 6.65 1.66 16% 21st
5 Max Meyer MIA v CIN x x x 24 2.63 1.13 20% 19th
6 Jack Flaherty DET v SDP x x x 21 2.53 1.08 18% 2nd
7 Gavin Williams CLE v NYY x x 19 4.58 1.32 10% 4th Williams was nowhere near his best but the bulk of the 5 ER came from a Holliday grand slam, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t count or anything, but rather to point out he wasn’t beaten around all night; allowed 2 H/1 ER in the 4.7 IP after GS, totaling 6.7 IP for the start; I’m sticking w/him for another 5-6 starts
8 Robbie Ray SFG v MIL x x 19 4.19 1.55 7% 26th 5, 4, 5 BB in his L3 but hasn’t paid the full toll for his 1.55 WHIP; running the 2-strep this wk and v. COL next, but need to see something in these next or else it might be time to move on in shallower formats
9 Tylor Megill NYM v PHI x x 19 1.40 1.34 15% 14th No world that ERA isn’t set to rise w/a WHIP that high, but showing enough to start confidently in a lot of spots… can afford to be more cautious in 10s
10 Kevin Gausman TOR at HOU x x 25 2.49 0.71 19% 25th He’s not all the way back w/a 3% BB and .172 BABIP shouldering the load of this success as his 22% K and 1.4 HR9 are both still bad; at NYY on the wknd make this a dodgy 2-step even w/HOU hitting poorly
11 Clarke Schmidt NYY at CLE x x 5 4.76 1.06 0% 16th Solid season debut leads into a very playable 2-step w/TOR on the wknd
12 Quinn Priester MIL at SFG x x 10 0.90 1.20 8% 10th Modest skills/great results is a profile to treat cautiously, but I’m eager to see where this 2-step goes (at STL this wknd)
13 Walker Buehler BOS v CHW x x 20 5.23 1.26 14% 29th Just 3 ER in his L2, but I remain entirely skeptical here and my interest is purely matchup driven here… be careful
14 Randy Vásquez SDP at DET 20 1.74 1.35 -7% 9th
15 Jonathan Cannon CHW at BOS 18 4.42 1.53 8% 15th
16 Erick Fedde STL at ATL 21 3.43 1.14 -1% 18th
