Thank God I don’t have to listen to Nicholas Minnix anymore. Good Guy. Smart. Obviously knows baseball. But Man I could barley listen to these podcasts with his babbling/rambling/repeating/stuttering long winded spiels… If there were Written Transcripts of his ramblings he would truly understand why he’s not doing this podcast. Again. Not trying to talk shit here but thank you for relieving me of that insanity.
Being able to evaluate baseball, write about it and speak of it are three different skills. Podcasting about baseball isnt as easy as it may seem, I did it for almost a year and consider myself a pretty good speaker and dont know half of what these guys do. It sounded like shit. I was a stammering idiot who sounded like I never even played fantasy baseball. Transitions are tough. Not repeating yourself in a one take, on the fly thing is really tough. Not rambling and making things concise are near impossible if you dont have a script. Its just a talent not everyone has.
I agree that Nicholas Minnix was a rough listen and Paul is much, much easier to listen to for over an hour.
I don’t get the hate for Minnix, I liked him and his idiosyncrasies. I think he has a great broadcasting voice.
For me whenever there is a new host for this, I struggle for like two weeks missing the last guy’s voice and mannerisms. When Podhorzer left I felt like I was listening to an alien podcast, likewise when Minnix was replaced. Though I must say that the new guy is pretty good, you can tell he’s had lots of previous experience with FLB podcasting. It’s taken me a shorter time to adjust to him than with any previous switch.
