Eno,
Saw your article on Most Above Average Pitches today, Great article! Any additional comments on Matt Shoemaker
Frazier slightly changed his batting stance this year. Just FYI
Thought I had, if you go looking for a substitute host on a random Sunday, and maybe next week is too early for this idea, but maybe a show with one of the Fangraph reliever guys where you delve into potential closers due to trades this year (e.g. who takes over in Texas if Soria gets moved?, SD and Street?, Min and Perkins?) and who gets a closer job this off-season do to contract/team changes. Basically, who are the non-closer relievers we can add at the end of this season to have cheap saves in our keeper leagues at the start of next year. I mean, talk about other things too, but just a thought. Maybe the rest of the world doesn’t find this as interesting as me.
Maybe the rest of the world doesn’t find this as interesting as me.
Bingo!
Only slightly off topic…
Eno’s head. Kind of reminds me of those clowns in that boardwalk game where you shoot the watergun into their mouth to make the balloon blow up. Could totally picture shooting a watergun into his melon to make the balloon blow up.
Boy, these chats sure have been NL-only heavy these last few weeks 🙁 Nothing on JD Martinez or Matt Shoemaker?
Another great show! I’d love to hear you talk about Ian Kennedy going forward. He’s in the top 20 on all of the following important metrics:
K-BB:19.2,
FIP:3.04,
xFIP:3.14,
Siera:3.13,
and he has a K/9 of 9.56. But he’s given up 16 ERs over his last 4 starts. The RG consensus at the beginning of June was 31. Do you have him at 31 or better going forward? Pick some possible teams he could be traded to that would significantly effect his value either way.
P.S. Yeah’s have been significantly reduced! 🙂
Nick and Eno,
Can you guys comment on Matheny’s usage of Rosenthal. Didn’t see the game but the 4 out saves and 40 pitches seem to be a recipe for disaster, especially for a guy who has been solid but lacking in command from time to time.
Great episode last time….you guys seem increasingly comfortable with each other, and belatedly, happy birthday to Eno. I really enjoyed the discussion of when pitch types lead you astray.
I know this is late: but is this sell high on Sal Perez, or is this just last year plus three or four extra HRs? He’s pre-peak on power….so hang tight?
Eno,
I know you were thinking on the fly but your proposed ATL lineup of La Stella, Heyward, Freeman, Upton, Gattis…begins with 3 lefties. Did you consider handedness? I’ve often wondered if managers overrate separating the lefties in the lineups. I assume in this case that Upton and Freeman are similar enough they could be easily switched and it wouldn’t be as big of a deal.
Can you two please talk about Shin-Soo Choo on your next podcast? His numbers have been incredibly week for the last month or so since he hurt his ankle. Is he a sell low? Panic?
