Closer Chaos
Manuel Rodriguez threw a scoreless inning versus the to register the save versus the Phillies on Tuesday. Rodriguez has quietly pitched since being called up in late August and registered three saves in that time. He could be a sneaky closer target in 2023.

Quick Hits
Seby Zavala was placed on the IL with a concussion. This likely ends his season as he will need at least seven days to clear protocols.

Adrian Houser left Tuesday’s game with a groin injury. He is expected to hit the IL, ending his season.

Yordan Alvarez left Tuesday’s game with an ankle issue. X-rays were negative, so consider him day-to-day for now.

Corey Seager left Tuesday’s game after being hit in the arm with a pitch. X-rays were negative following the game. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Bailey Ober threw 7.1 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out 10 in the victory over the White Sox.

Ober has been pretty great when he has been on the mound this year, but he only has 51 innings pitched this year due to injury. When on the mound, he has done a good job of keeping the ball in the yard in spite of an over 50% flyball percentage which has likely been aided the way the ball has been deadened this season. However, if that holds for next year, he will be a cheap post hype sleeper coming into next season.

Josh Jung went 3-for-4 with two home runs in the victory over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Jung has just hit .227 since making his debut, but the power has been on display and he has even swiped a couple of bags. However, he has struck out 41% of the time which is not something many expected. He did miss some development time with injury, so I would expect him to cut that down. He is clearly completely healthy, which is the most important thing. The top prospect will be a fun target in drafts in 2023.

Nice matchup and coming off of a quality start makes him a good target.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from the recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
