Quick Hits
Isan Diaz left Monday’s game with a groin issue. Consider him day to day for now.

According to manager Aaron Boone, Gio Urshela will return to the team on Tuesday. Urshela has been recovering from an elbow injury. Boone also stated that both Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton could return this week as well.

Rhys Hoskins was placed on the IL with a UCL injury. It sounds like this will end his season and could potential mean he misses time into 2021 if he needs a surgery like Tommy John.

Stephen Piscotty left Monday’s game with a knee injury. It is being characterized as a sprain. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Various News and Notes
Jake Lamb went 2-for-4 with a home run against the Mariners on Monday. Lamb signed a deal with the A’s earlier in the day. Lamb was let go by the Diamondbacks last week and with the Athletics losing Matt Chapman to hip surgery, they needed to bolster their depth a bit. Lamb could earn a larger role if he continues to hit.

Jose Iglesias went 4-for-4 with a home run on Monday. You may not have noticed if you aren’t an Orioles fan, but Iglesias has been great this year, hitting .370/.387/.504 and batting second or third in the Orioles lineup all year long. He only has one home run and hasn’t stolen a base, so it has been an empty batting average, but he will continue to play everyday and hit on top of the Baltimore lineup.

Josh Bell went 3-for-6 with a home run on Monday versus the Pirates. Bell has struggled mightily this season after last year’s breakout, but has started to bounce back as of late. He has hit .455/.500/.773 with two home runs since I dropped him in the NFBC Main Event on 9/6/2020. If he is available, he is worth scoping for the home stretch.

Mike Minor pitched a seven inning shutout versus the Mariners on Monday. Minor allowed only four base runners in the outing and struck out eight. Minor has struggled this season, but the A’s traded for him anyhow so maybe they saw something they thought they could fix. He would be a risky play later this week against the Dodgers.
