Quick Hits

Rowdy Tellez was placed on the 10-Day IL with a patella tendon strain. There is no timetable for his return.

Blake Snell left his start on Sunday with an adductor injury.

Consider him day-to-day for now, but this looks like it may end him up on the IL.

According to manager Aaron Boone, Clint Frazier will not return this year due to vision issues. This is disappointing, but also concerning. Hopefully they can diagnose the issue and correct it.

Aaron Judge left Sunday’s game due to dizziness. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Various News and Notes

Aaron Ashby threw three scoreless innings, allowing just one one hit and no walks while striking out five.

Ashby entered the game in the seventh with the Brewers up eight runs, so it is a little perplexing as to why he was awarded a save. Ashby has been working some high leverage and bulk innings and with the Brewers beginning to limit starters, he is an interesting pickup as a sneaky win source the rest of the way.

Jarred Kelenic went 1-for-3 with a home run in the loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Kelenic has struggled in his rookie season with the MAriners, but they have not given up on him and he is hitting .250 with three home runs over his last nine games including two home runs in his last two games. The talent is still apparent and he should come at a reduced price in 2022.

Jeimer Candelario went 2-for-5 with two home runs in the victory over the Rays on Sunday.

Candelario has been on fire as of late, hitting .302 with four home runs during the month of September. He is still available in 38% of CBS leagues and should be rostered everywhere.

Pitcher for Today:  Paolo Espino vs MIA

Espino has been up and down recently, but I like the matchup here.

High Risk Options: AJ Alexy vs HOU

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Joe Ryan vs CLE

Ryan was very impressive in his last start and gets a nice matchup here.

High Risk Options: Tony Gonsolin vs ARI, Jesus Luzardo at WAS, Luke Weaver at LAD, Wily Peralta vs MIL, Dillon Peters vs CIN

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from the recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

“Ashby entered the game in the seventh with the Brewers up eight runs, so it is a little perplexing as to why he was awarded a save.”

That’s a three-inning save, doesn’t matter the size of the lead.
