Quick Hits

Max Kepler left Sunday’s game with a leg contusion. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Trevor Story left Sunday’s game with a heel injury. He is expected to undergo further testing. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Rougned Odor left Sunday’s game with a hand injury. X-rays were negative. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Mitch Haniger left Sunday’s game with back tightness. It doesn’t sound overly serious. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Nico Hoerner left Sunday’s game with triceps tightness. It sounds like it was a precautionary move. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes

Mitch Keller threw seven scoreless innings versus the Cardinals on Sunday, allowing two hits and three walks in the no-decision.

Keller was nasty in the outing, throwing all of his pitches for a 31% CSW and mixing them very well. Keller has quietly been fantastic in the second half, throwing 48 innings with a 3.00 ERA and 38 strikeouts. He is still sporting a bad WHIP and there are too many walks, but the home run rate has been great. I don’t know that I am completely sold on him with the amount of contact he gives up, but this is a step in the right direction for the former top prospect.

Stone Garrett went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases in the victory over the Rockies on Sunday.

Garrett has quietly been very good, hitting .405/.436/.757 with three home runs and three stolen bases in 42 plate appearances since his call up. Unfortunately, he is not playing every day, but he is someone to stream in daily moves leagues and use in DFS.

Steven Kwan went 3-for-5 with a home run and a stolen base in the victory over the Twins on Sunday.

Kwan has had an up and down season, but in the second half, he is hitting .307 with three home runs and nine stolen bases while leading off in every game he has played. There isn’t a ton of power at all, but there is great contact skills and speed and he will likely be somewhat under valued in 2023.

Eduardo Escobar went 2-for-4 with a homerun in the victory over the Marlins on Sunday.

Escobar was awful for most of the season, hitting .218 with 12 home runs, but since the calendar turned to September, he has been on fire, hitting .457 with four home runs. He is going to cool down at someone, but until he does, he should be rostered in all formats.
