Various News and Notes

According to Bob Dutton, James Paxton will rejoin the Mariners rotation on Friday in Houston. Dutton also noted that the Mariners will also activate Felix Hernandez from the DL as well for a start on Sunday. Both pitchers are likely to have around a 60-pitch cap which makes them riskier plays against a very good Houston lineup.

According to Jordan Bastian, Bradley Zimmer fractured his 4th metacarpal in his left hand. He will see a doctor at some point this week, but this could potentially end his season. In spite of the fact that Zimmer has eight home runs and eighteen stolen bases in 329 plate appearance, there is potential that he could be overlooked coming into drafts in 2018.

Matt Adams left Sunday’s game with hamstring cramps. This doesn’t appear to be anything serious, so consider him day-to-day at this time.

Asdrubal Cabrera left Sunday’s game after being hit on the ankle with a pitch. X-rays came back negative after the game. Consider him day-to-day at this time as he will likely miss a game or two.

Rougned Odor left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. Following the game it was reported that this appears to be a mild sprain and Odor should be fine after x-rays came back negative. He could miss a game or two as a precaution, but with the Rangers only 2.5 games back in the Wild Card, the Rangers may decide that can’t afford to sit him.

According to manager John Gibbons, Aaron Sanchez will not pitch again this season. It has been a disappointing season for Sanchez who pitched in only eight games this year. He will likely be very overlooked in 2018 drafts and could be a nice bounceback candidate

Streaming Pitcher Options

A pitcher for today: Chris Stratton vs LAD

Stratton has pitched well over his last four starts, posting a sub 2.00 ERA and over a strikeout per inning. The Dodgers have last ten straight game and fifteen of their last sixteen. This has risk, but of the pitchers that qualify, he’s the best option.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Kyle Gibson vs SD

Gibson has made some small mechanical adjustments that have paid some dividends in the last months. He gets a bad Padres team at home.
