Chase Headley to the Yankees
Headley is on his way to the Big Apple, leaving San Diego for literally the first time in his professional life. Headley has been more than a bit down this year, ending up at .229/.296/.355 before the trade. If you want to know how the move out of Petco could help Headley, here are two sets of numbers to learn you good:

Headley at Petco: .243/.331/.372
Headley elsewhere: .286/.360/.444

Going over to San Diego are Yangervis Solarte and Rafael De Paula. Solarte started out hot for the Yankees, but he’s cooled lately as expected. Solarte could take over at third for the Padres, over they could insert someone at second base and allow Jedd Gyorko to move back to the hot corner. Even if he’s playing every day, Solarte isn’t much of a fantasy option, and likely never will be.

De Paula, a right-handed pitching prospect out of the Dominican Republic, is still at least a year away from the big leagues. but he’s got a sweet slider and a solid fastball when he can keep his velocity up. There seems to be a good chance De Paula ends up in the bullpen, and at 23 years old and at High-A, he’s running out of time to prove he can start.

Ubaldo Jimenez will have a bullpen session
Ubaldo has been out with an ankle injury since July 5, but he has a bullpen session scheduled for today, and he could begin a rehab assignment shortly thereafter. Ubaldo has never had great control, but when his velocity is down and he can’t throw it by guys, he tends to take a dump on the pitching mound, which he has done far too often this year. There’s no reason to own Ubaldo until he shows signs of life.

Troy Tulowitzki to the DL
Tulo is finally making his yearly DL trip, this time with a hip flexor strain. The injury doesn’t sound majorly serious, but there does look to be good chance that he spends more than the minimum 15 days on the shelf. Tulo was the easy pick for NL MVP before the injury, and he still may be if he can miss only 15-20 games.

Also banged up is Curtis Granderson, who missed yesterday’s game against the Mariners with flu-esque symptoms. Granderson may be back today, but be prepared to make a change if you have a replacement handy.

I wish Choo would do anything. Or just keep Golden Sombreroing. Either way. :/
