The Sleeper and the Bust DFS Contest

Every week we put on a DFS Contest for the Sleeper and the Bust podcast! Last week we enlarged the contest to 150 entries, but it still filled up pretty quickly. Make sure you get in by clicking here:

Closer Chaos
Julio Urias closed out the Dodgers win over the Braves on Monday. Urias was filling in for Kenley Jansen who was unavailable after pitching three days in a row and giving up a game winning bomb to Hunter Renfroe on Sunday. Urias has been moved out of the rotation, but will likely get another shot as a starter when the eventual injury claims one of the current staff.

Junior Guerra got the save on Monday for the Brewers after shutting the door on the Nationals. Guerra was filling in for Josh Hader who pitched two innings on Friday and then another inning on Sunday. Guerra is likely the next man up for the Brewers and could get some sneaky saves here and there if Craig Counsell decides to use Hader in earlier innings at times.

Various News and Notes
Wilmer Font was acquired by the New York Mets from the Tampa Bay Rays for a Player to be Named Later. He is expected to be a reliever for the Mets, but could some spot starts with both Steven Matz and Jason Vargas dealing with injuries. Font has some strikeout upside, but he hasn’t been great this season. His underlying numbers are better than the surface numbers, but he isn’t worth an add right now except for in NL Only leagues.

According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, Matt Olson is expected to be activated from the 10-Day IL on Tuesday. Olson is returning from hamate bone surgery, which often cn sap power from hitters even after they have returned from it. Olson should be grabbed in any league he may have been dropped in, but temper expectations, especially early on. Kendrys Morales is expected to be designated for assignment in a corresponding move or shortly after, but should find a home somewhere.

Austin Meadows stated that he is hoping to return from the IL this weekend. Meadows is recovering from a thumb injury, but considering how quickly he is returning and how short of a rehab assignment he seems to need, it appears he is fully recovered and shouldn’t have lingering effects.

Kevin Gausman has been suspended for five games for throwing at Jose Urena. Gausman pitched yesterday while the appeals process played itself out, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he drops that appeal and starts serving the suspension now that he has gotten that start in and can stay on his usual rotation schedule.

David Price has been placed on the 10-Day IL with elbow tendinitis. Price is only expected to miss a start or two, but this is frustrating as he has pitched well and there wasn’t any warning of an issue until after faab runs for the week. On the bright side, this seems like a short term issue.

Streaming Pitching Options (Less than 50% owned)
Pitcher for Today: Lucas Giolito at CLE
Giolito still needs to stop walking so many, but the stuff looks a bit better this year and the Indians aren’t a team I am avoiding. Nice beginning to a 2-start week.

High Risk Options: Daniel Norris vs LAA
All the eyes will be on Griffin Canning for the beginning of the 2-start week, but Norris has been good as of late too and gets a bad Angels lineup.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: None

High Risk Options: Reynaldo Lopez at CLE
Lopez got torched in his last start, but prior to that he seemed to be turning a corner. Cleveland’s lineup isn’t anything to be scared of, so he is worth the gamble.

On the other bright side for price, he may be ineligible to start baseball games for 10 days, but he’s totally eligible to start hot fire twitter wars
