The Sleeper and the Bust DFS Contest!
Every week we run a DFS contest for the Sleeper and the Bust podcast. This week’s winner is durkinm424!

Various News and Notes
Dodgers prospect Will Smith made his Major League debut on Tuesday, going two-for-four with a double. Smith has power and on base skills and is an above average defender at the position, so there is a chance he could stick in the absence of Austin Barnes, who is on the IL and has struggled this season. Smith is worthy of a pickup if you have been struggling or like 90’s TV stars:

J.P. Crawford left Tuesday’s game with an ankle injury. This one seems pretty serious and it is unfortunate because he had been playing well since being brought up to the Majors. Tim Beckham should see more time with Crawford out. More information will be available tomorrow on the condition of Crawford.

Byron Buxton left Tuesday’s game with a knee injury. The injury was sustained when he hit a wall trying to make this catch:

Buxton said after the game that he feels fine and, so consider him day-to-day at this time.

Zach Plesac made his Major League debut, throwing 5.1 innings and allowing only one run and a walk while striking out two against the Red Sox. Plesac was impressive in the outing and has shown good control in the minor leagues. With the injuries to the Indians rotation, he has a real shot to stick.

DJ Stewart made his Major League debut for the Orioles on Tuesday night. Stewart is a former top first round that has resurrected his pedigree this year in AAA. He has been blocked by the poor roster construction of the Orioles, but is getting his shot now and could be a valuable pick up in deeper mixed leagues at least for the short term.

Derek Dietrich hit three home runs against the Pirates. That brings him up to 17 bombs on the season. Dietrich has always had potential, but struggled to get playing time. Regression is coming obviously, but he should have a full time role even when Scooter Gennett returns in a few weeks from his injury.

Jordan Lyles was removed from his start after suffering a hamstring strain. No further information was available about his condition after the game. Consider him day-to-day at this time, but this is concerning.

DJ Stewart had 47 PAs last year and actually hit pretty well with a 137 wRC+. Also, the Reds use Dietrich in a pretty strict platoon with only 11 PAs against LHP so far, so he doesn’t quite have a full time role, just the strong side of a platoon.
