Various News and Notes

Aaron Nola was activated off of the DL Sunday and proceeded to throw seven innings of one-run ball in Pittsburgh. Nola had been dealing with a lower back strain that took a bit longer to come back from, but it appears to be a thing of the past now.

Matt Adams played in his first game for the Braves after being traded to Atlanta on Saturday. Adams hit .292/.340/.396 in 53 plate appearances in St.Louis, but could never carve out enough playing time to make a difference. In Atlanta he will get an opportunity to get a large amount of playing time with Freddie Freeman out for the next 10 weeks.

Brian McCann was placed on the 7-day DL with a concussion. There is no current timetable at this time as concussions are tricky to diagnose how long the recovery will be.

Julio Urias was optioned to AAA on Sunday. The Dodgers are currently flush with starting pitcher options right now and Urias has struggled in this go around, so it makes sense to send him down. Don’t be surprised if he reappears in the near future as he’d make a nice addition to their bullpen and their starting rotation is predominantly made of glass.

The Mariners announced some updated timetables for players on the DL. James Paxton is aiming to return May 31st as long as he sufferes no setback in his minor league rehab assignment on Friday. Mitch Haniger will head out for a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday or Wednesday and should be back with the big league club before the end of May. Danny Valencia will undergo an MRI on his wrist that has been troubling him. Dan Vogelbach has been recalled as insurance if he needs to go on the DL or sit for an extended period.

Eric Thames was taken out of the game on Sunday due to cramps. This seems to be a recurring issue, but shouldn’t end him up on the DL for now. It is quite possible that the kimchi in Milwaukee does not have the same superpower inducing effects as it does in Korea.

Streaming Pitcher Options

A pitcher for today: Jeff Hoffman @ Phi

Hoffman has been pretty good in AAA this year in a very tough environment. In his only other start in the Majors this year he went 5.1 and struck out 8. It’s a gamble, but widely available and likely under owned in DFS.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Jesse Hahn vs Mia

Why is nobody picking up Hahn? Once again I will roll him out and reap the rewards.
