Closer Chaos

Seranthony Dominguez threw one inning on Sunday versus the Cubs, allowing two runs on one hit and a walk in the blown save.

Dominguez has struggled this season as the White Sox closer. He should have a pretty long leash given his contract, but if he continues to struggle, he could lose the job.

Quick Hits
Ryan O’Hearn was placed on the 10-Day IL with a quad strain. There is no timetable for his return. Jake Mangum was activated from the IL to take his spot on the roster.

Ty Madden was placed on the 15-Day IL with a forearm contusion.

There is no timetable for his return. Will Vest was activated from the IL to take his spot on the roster.

Brendan Donovan was placed on the IL with a groin strain. There is no timetable for his return. Colt Emerson was called up to take Donovan’s spot on the roster.

J.P. Crawford left Sunday’s game after being hit with a pitch.

He was diagnosed with a triceps contusion. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Colt Emerson made his Major League debut.

Emerson is the #11 prospect according to FanGraphs and was hitting well in AAA this season going, .255/.347/.469 with seven home runs and 10 stolen bases. He will man third base until Brendan Donovan is back.

Roki Sasaki threw seven innings against the Angels, allowing one run on four hits and no walks while striking out eight in the victory on Sunday;.

Sasaki was fantastic in this one, especially with the splitter having good command and control. He has struggled so far in his career, but the stuff is good and the Dodgers have been good at developing pitchers so it is not a bad buying opportunity.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in Yahoo)

Pitcher for Today: JT Ginn at LAA

Ginn has been great on the road this year and is facing a strikeout prone Angels team.

Other Options:  Seth Lugo vs BOS, Noah Schultz at SEA, JR Ritchie at MIA, Andrew Painter vs CIN, Christian Scott at WAS, Brandon Sproat at CIN, Walbert Urena vs ATH.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Anthony Kay at SEA

Kay has been much better over his last three starts and gets a Mariners team that struggles versus lefties.

Other Options: Griffin Jax vs BAL, Keider Montero vs CLE, Zebby Matthews vs HOU, Reid Detmers vs ATH, Braxton Garret vs ATL, Foster Griffin vs NYM, Ben Brown vs MIL.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “Other Options.”
