Closer Chaos
Luke Weaver is expected to be placed on the IL with a hamstring strain. Weaver injured himself while preparing to come into the game over the weekend and an MRI results are not good. Devin Williams should move back into the role until Weaver is back.
Quick Hits
Yoán Moncada was placed on the IL with a knee injury. There is no timetable for his return, but this doesn’t seem serious at this time.
Robert Stephenson was placed on the IL with a biceps injury. There is no timetable for his return.
Miguel Andujar was placed on the IL with an oblique strain. These injuries typically take 4-to-6 weeks to return from. JJ Bleday was recalled to take his spot on the roster.
Gunnar Hoglund was placed on the IL with a hip injury. Osvaldo Bido was recalled to take his spot on the roster.
Ezequiel Tovar left Monday’s game with a side issue. These often are oblique injuries which take 4-to-6 weeks to return from. Consider him day-to-day for now, but if he hits the IL, he may miss more than the minimum.
LaMonte Wade Jr. left Monday’s game after being hit on the hand with a pitch.
X-rays were negative. Consider him day-to-day at this time.
Various News and Notes
Stephen Kolek threw 5.2 scoreless innings versus the Giants, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out three in the no-decision on Monday.
Kolek was great in the outing, getting a 43% CSW on his cutter and a 27% whiff rate on his slider. Kolek’s stuff hasn’t played up as much in the rotation as it did in the pen, but he has done a great job at limiting the walks and strikeouts thus far. He is a deep league play at this point, but he has value in deeper leagues.
Wenceel Pérez went 2-for-5 with a home run in the victory over the White Sox on Monday.
Perez has been great since returning to the Tigers, hitting .316/.350/.737 with two home runs in 20 plate appearances. He is getting extremely lucky in the BABIP right now, but as long as he is healthy, the Tigers will let him play. However, with Parker Meadows back from the IL as well, he will need to hit to keep his playing time.
Jo Adell went 2-for-4 with two home runs in the victory over the Red Sox on Monday.
Adell has been up and down this season, hitting .215/.283/.430 with nine home runs and a stolen base. He is making the best in-zone contact of his career, but he still chases too much and his aggressiveness will lead to prolonged slumps. There have been improvements and the raw skills are still tantalizing, but he needs to have a better eye at the plate to make it work long term.

Dollander made it back quickly. This start is in Miami so he has a chance to make an impression. He is one of the very few players the Rockies can look forward to in the future.
