Roto Riteup: June 26, 2018

Just a reminder, God loves baseball:

On the Agenda:
1. Closer Chaos
2. Various News and Notes
3. Streaming Pitchers

Closer Chaos
Wily Peralta came into the game in the ninth inning to close out a 2-0 victory for Royals. This is classic timing as FAAB has already run for the week and the majority of people in fantasy leagues attempting to buy into the closer speculation for Kansas City bought on Tim Hill, Brandon Maurer and Justin Grimm. This is pretty much just a cluster…

Various News and Notes
Edwin Jackson tied a Major League record for most teams pitched for on Monday. So, let’s make this happen:

Gary Sanchez has been placed on the 10-Day DL with a groin strain. Sanchez had injured himself while running out a ground ball to first base and appeared to be in a ton of pain. However, in spite of the look of the injury, it appears he has a low-grade strain and will only miss about 3-4 weeks. This likely puts him out until after the All-Star Break.

Robbie Ray will be reactivated on Wednesday and return to the rotation for the Diamondbacks. Ray was expected to return next week, but the Diamondbacks will push that timetable up a few days. He will likely not pitch deep into his first start off of the DL, but this sets up a potential two start week for him next week, which is valuable for fantasy.

Caleb Smith will likely miss at least two months with a lat strain. Smith suffered the injury during his last start and is a grade-3 strain. Depending on whether he elects to get surgery, he could actually miss the rest of the season. Smith is droppable in all formats.

Nomar Mazara left Monday’s game against the Padres after experiencing tightness in his hamstring. The move was characterized as precautionary after the game, so it does not appear to be serious right now. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Streaming Pitchers Options
A pitcher for today: Chad Bettis @ SF
Bettis has a 2.70 ERA on the road this season.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Mike Minor vs SD

Edwin Jackson should be a closer…have they tried that experiment yet? 🙂 hope he joins all teams before he retires.
