Trade Rumors!!!

According to multiple reports, the Twins are shopping both Ryan Jeffers and Joe Ryan and hope to move them by the trade deadline. Ryan was also scratched from his start on Monday but this appears to be unrelated. He has been fantastic this season and he is likely going to be opting out of his contract at the end of the season as long as he finishes it healthy. Jeffers is also a free agent after this season and can give veteran leadership behind the plate for a contender.

Quick Hits

Kyle Tucker left Monday’s game with back spasms.

Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Dalton Rushing left Monday’s game after being hit with a fouled off pitch.

He was evaluated for a concussion but reportedly passed all tests. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Jeremy Pena left Monday’s game with a hamstring injury.

The Astros are calling this just a cramp so it appears he avoided serious injury. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Blaze Alexander left Monday’s game with a knee injury.

The Orioles stated after the game that they believed the injury to not be serious. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Various News and Notes
Tommy Troy went 1-for-4 with a home run in the loss to the Cardinals on Monday.

Troy has been decent in his callup, hitting .240/.321/.413 with three home runs in 84 plate appearances. He has done a good job of limiting the strike outs and he is walking at a double digit rate.There isn’t a ton of power in the profile, but there is a fair amount of speed and the Diamondbacks have begun working with him in center which could add to his ability to get more regular playing time moving forward.

Kumar Rocker threw five innings on Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out nine in the no-decision versus the Marlins.

Rocker was very impressive in the outing, getting an unreal 74% whiff rate on his slider and a 57% whiff rate overall. Most impressively, this was his first outing since May 2 that he has not allowed a single walk. Command and control has been the biggest issue for Rocker. If he can figure out a way to consistently attack the zone, he could take a massive step forward.

Pitcher for Today: Peter Lambert at TOR

Lambert has been great since joining the rotation and has a nice matchup. 

Other Options: Aaron Civale at SF, JR Ritchie at SD, Brandon Sproat at CIN, Kyle Leahy vs ARI. 

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Martin Pérez at SD

Perez has had a late season renaissance so far this year and is facing a struggling Padres offense that is terrible against lefties. 

Other Options: Randy Vásquez vs ATL, Shane Drohan at CIN
