Various News and Notes
Cody Reed made his moderately anticipated debut yesterday, striking out nine batters in seven innings of work and allowing four earned. Reed, who has had some problems with homers as of late, allowed two dingers last night, and he’ll have to contend with the long-ball all year long as he suffers in the pitcher’s Hell that is Great American Ballpark.

James Shields is about ready to go on the DL with a mysterious unexplained injury, as he’s been crushed in four straight outings. Shields allowed eight earned without making it through two measly innings, and his 2016 ERA is now up to 6.28.

Tyler Naquin has relied on devil magic for a majority of his 2016 success, but he smacked both a triple and a homer yesterday, giving him 11 extra-base hits in 41 games. Naquin’s strikeout rate is down below 33% now, but his BABIP sits at.450-plus.

Tim Lincecum made his 2016 MLB debut and picked up the win against the Athletics. Lincecum’s fastball was in the high-80s like it was in 2014, a clear improvement over his 2015 velo.

Mike Bolsinger, a magical revelation in 2015, is no longer a sexy hung of offspeed man-meat in 2016. The 28-year-old righty was chased in the third inning of last night’s outing, although he didn’t run into the homer problems that have plagued him, for a change.

Melky Cabrera hurt himself in the first inning of yesterday’s contest against the Indians, tweaking his wrist while playing the outfield. The Melk Man is having a minor resurgence this year, hitting .286 with five homers in 269 plate appearances.

Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers or play DFS, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.

A pitcher for today: Tyler Anderson at MIA (Tom Koehler)
There’s not much in the way of mid-tier options available, and a surprisingly interesting Rockies’ starter in a much more forgiving ballpark is worth a look.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Steven Wright vs CHW (Miguel Gonzalez)
I imagine the Red Sox will take Gonzalez to town, so this is a good play for a win.

Wright is owned in 85% of Yahool leagues, not really a streaming option.
