Ben Brown was placed on the IL with a neck issue. There is no timetable for his return.

Joey Gallo left Tuesday’s game with a pulled hamstring. He is expected to hit the IL.

Kevin Keirmaier left Tuesday’s game with a knee issue. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Logan O’Hoppe left Tuesday’s game after getting hit in the groin with a foul ball.

The injury is not considered serious. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Jurickson Profar left Tuesday’s game with a knee injury after swinging and missing at a pitch:

He reportedly was dealing with patellar tendinitis in his left knee prior to the game and the issue is related to that. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Taylor Ward left Tuesday’s game with back tightness. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Louie Varland threw five scoreless innings versus the Rockies on Tuesday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three in the no-decision. Varland was really good in the outing, getting a 31% whiff rate on the fastball and a 43% CSW on the cutter, but was only allowed to throw 63 pitches before being replaced. Varland has always had good stuff, but can struggle with command. He is someone to watch and stream if he can stay in the Majors.

Brandon Lowe went 1-for-5 with a home run in the victory over the Cubs on Tuesday.

Lowe struggled initially when he returned from the IL, but in the month of June, he is hitting .267 with two home runs and a stolen base while batting second or third in the majority of his games. Lowe has always had power, but there is swing and miss that can plague him as well. If healthy and playing, he can be a viable second baseman with upside in most formats.

Drew Thorpe threw five innings against the Mariners, allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out four in the no-decision on Tuesday.

Thorpe is a top prospect that looked the part in his debut. The line might have been better if not for a few bad errors in the field. He has a fantastic changeup and great command, but a fastball that doesn’t light up the radar gun. He will be a hot pickup this week, but while he likely has a decent floor with the elite changeup, the ceiling is limited because of the team he pitches for and the lack of a full arsenal.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: David Peterson vs MIA

Peterson has looked good since returning from the IL and gets a great matchup versus a bad Marlins squad.

High Risk Options: Jose Soriano at ARI, Bailey Falter at STL, Austin Gomber at MIN, Cody Poteet at KC, Tobias Myers vs TOR, Slade Cecconi vs LAA.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Griffin Canning vs ARI

Canning has pitched better as of late and gets a decent matchup in a decent park.

High Risk Options: Casey Mize at WAS, Michael Lorenzen at LAD.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
