Various news and notes
In his first start back from Tommy John surgery, Patrick Corbin struck out three Rockies over five innings of work, walking none and allowing two runs over five innings of work. Corbin’s velocity was even with his 2012-13 norms, with his fastball sitting 91-92.

While it’s true that some of his success stems from a deflated BABIP, Zack Greinke has been special this year. After shutting down the Mets over seven innings yesterday, Greinke now has a 1.48 ERA and 0.89 WHIP.

Jorge Soler is slated to return to the Cubs lineup today after missing the last month with an ankle injury. Soler’s strikeout rate was a problem before going down with the injury, so hopefully some time off allows him to right the ship.

Jarred Cosart has been sent to the minors after getting crushed by the Cubs yesterday. Cosart has been disappointing this year, dealing with both injuries and general ineffectiveness. The Astros look smart for being willing to deal him.

Josh Hamilton could need to return to the DL for the Rangers, and Delino DeShields, Jr., may be ready to return and step into Texas’ open outfield spot. DeShields has already completed a six-game rehab assignment.

Trevor May is the odd man out in Minnesota with Ervin Santana returning from suspension. May has looked sharp as a starter at times, posting a 3.20 FIP over 15 starts, but a high BABIP and an inability to strand runners — both of which also plagued him last year — have limited his effectiveness. May will be moved to the bullpen for now, but will get the first chance to move back into the rotation should the likes of Mike Pelfrey or Tommy Milone falter.

The Reds are stretching Tony Cingrani out while he rehabs in Triple-A with the expectation that he would take Johnny Cueto’s spot in the rotation if/when he’s traded.

Dear fangraphs. You have to fix your advertising. I come to your site way less often because when I get to your page on an iPhone you automatically launch my App Store. Very annoying. Furthermore for some reason you stop my music from playing as well. Fix this shit
