Closer Chaos

Jordan Romano threw a perfect ninth inning on Tuesday to register the save against the Nationals.

Romano struggled at the beginning of the season with the Angels, but he has found new life since joining the Rockies, throwing 5.2 innings and only allowing one earned run. He still has control issues but he has had four walk free outings out of the six he has appeared in since coming to Colorado. He will likely be moved at the deadline to a contender and probably won’t be a closer in his new location.

Trade Rumors!!!

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Angels are listening to offers for Zach Neto. They do not need to move him, as he is under team control for three more seasons, but they will at least hear other teams out if a big offer were to come their way.

Quick Hits

Trevor McDonald was placed on the 15-Day IL with an elbow strain. There is no timetable for his return. Tristan Beck was recalled to take his spot on the roster.

Joshua Kuroda-Grauer was placed on the 10-Day IL with a ruptured testicle. There is no timetable for his return. Max Muncy was recalled to take his spot on the roster.

Kyle Higashioka was placed on the IL with a flexor strain. There is no timetable for his return. Austin Wynns was recalled to take his spot on the roster.

Jack Flaherty was placed on the 15-Day IL with inflammation in his flexor tendon. There is no timetable for his return. Ty Madden was recalled to take his spot on the roster.

Josh Jung left Tuesday’s game with a calf issue.

Jung stated after the game that he was OK. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Jac Caglianone left Tuesday’s game with a shoulder issue.

The Royals referred to it as soreness so it doesn’t appear to be overly serious at this time. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Jo Adell went 2-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Adell has been up and down this season, hitting .243/.289/.402 with 15 home runs and three stolen bases in 419 plate appearances. In spite of gains in his contact skills, Adell has a very aggressive approach that leads to hot and cold streaks. Until he becomes more patient at the plate, he will be an inconsistent player for fantasy.

Zac Thornton threw six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out two in the victory over the Brewers on Tuesday.

Thornton has just a 16% whiff rate in the game and his stuff is not overpowering to stay the least, but he induces a ton of weak contact and gets out of innings quickly. Regression will hit him eventually, but it won’t be drastic and he is a good deep league streamer in good matchups.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in Yahoo)

Pitcher for Today: Landen Roupp at KC.

Roupp is coming off of another good start and has a nice matchup.

Other Options: Anthony Kay at TEX, Seth Lugo vs SF, Bailey Ober at CLE, Brady Singer at SEA, Christian Scott at MIL.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Ian Seymour at TOR

Seymour has been up and down as a start, but the stuff is really good and the Blue Jays have struggled this season versus lefties.

Other Options: Brandon Pfaadt at STL.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “Other Options.”
