Trade Rumors!!!

According to Craig Mish, the Marlins are now actively shopping Starling Marte. The two had previously been discussing an extension, but that appears to have ended at this point. Mish named the Giants as a possible destination, but multiple teams will be interested considering he is a rental and a good offensive center fielder.

According to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post, multiple teams have contacted the Rockies in regards to Trevor Story. Story is a free agent at the end of the year and the Rockies aren’t going to re-sign him, so he should get moved. He would lose a little value leaving Colorado, but would have a better team context around him. He will likely be the biggest name moved at the deadline.

Quick Hits

Brady Singer was placed on the IL with a shoulder issue. The Royals are characterizing the issue as fatigue, but there is no timetable for his return.

Danny Duffy was placed on the IL with a flexor strain. This is scary as he has already missed time with this injury. There is no timetable for his return.

Zach Eflin was placed on the IL with patella tendinitis. There is no timetable for his return at this time.

Luis Arraez left Tuesday’s game with knee soreness. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Kris Bryant left Tuesday’s game with hamstring fatigue. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Bobby Bradley left Tuesday’s game with back spasms. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Justin Turner left Tuesday’s game after being hit in the knee with a pitch. There was no update

There was no update on his condition following the game. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Max Muncy left Tuesday’s game with a shoulder contusion after being hit by a pitch. Muncy’s wife is pregnant and there was initial talk that she may be in labor, but she dispelled that rumor on Instagram during the game:

Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Josiah Gray made his Major League debut, throwing four innings, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Gray was impressive at times, but he also really struggled in the zone which led to three home runs. With the Dodgers down a couple of starters, he should get some run and is worth rostering in all leagues due to the enormous upside, but there is risk for any rookie pitcher as well as the risk the Dodgers add a starter or two at the deadline.

Touki Toussaint threw 6.2 innings in the win versus the Padres, allowing just one run on three hits and two walks while striking out five.

Touki was very good in this one, throwing four pitches and working both sides of the plate while inducing a good amount of ground balls and sporting a 27% CSW. Toussaint is a former top pitching prospect that has struggled in his first few rounds in the Majors, but he has a complete arsenal and if he can keep his command and control in check, he could turn into a pretty good fantasy option.

Estevan Florial went one-for-three with a home run and a walk versus the Phillies.

Florial has always had power and speed, but struggled to make contact as he has come up through the minors. He is a decent enough defender that if he can keep the strikeouts down and get on base, he could find himself getting regular plate appearances in the graveyard that is the Yankees outfield.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Eric Lauer v KC

Lauer was pushed back with a fingernail issue, so there is some risk here, but he has been good lately and has a nice matchup.

High Risk Options: None

Pitcher for Tomorrow:   Alex Cobb at MIN

Cobb has been really good lately and has a nice matchup versus a disappointing Twins team.

High Risk Options:  Zach Davies vs ARI, Wily Peralta at KC, Adrian Houser vs CHW.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from the recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

You really gotta do a proofread of the tweet embedding. The first one is completely wrong and then you double posted Turner’s HBP. I get that FG doesn’t think roto content is worth editing but…come on.
