Players I Started in Weekly Leagues That Are Now on the DL and I Am Not Bitter or Anything
Felix Hernandez was placed on the 10-Day DL with back stiffness. Hernandez was struggling with the issue, but was expected to make his next start. However, the Mariners will rest their former ace with the All-Star Break coming up in hopes he can be better in the second half.
Sean Doolittle was placed on the 10-Day DL with a toe injury. Doolittle was expected to avoid the DL, but the Nationals will use the upcoming All-Star Break to give Doolittle time to get healthy for the stretch run. Expect recently acquired Kelvin Herrera get some saves in the meantime.
Various News and Notes
Enyel De Los Santos was called up and made his Major League debut versus the Mets on Tuesday, allowing three runs, issuing three walks, and striking out six. He showed a good fastball and decent curve, but struggled a little with command. He has been great in AAA this year, but the underlying numbers aren’t as encouraging. He can be a bit homer prone (10 allowed in his last 10 minor league starts) which makes him risky.
Garrett Richards was pulled from his start on Tuesday in the third inning versus the Mariners, which was not good news for me.

Apparently, Richards was experiencing some “forearm irritation” during the outing. Combine this with a huge velocity drop in the third inning and the mind begins to race back to the fact Richards opted for PRP injections and rest over Tommy John Surgery. More to come on this.
