Roto Riteup: July 10, 2016

Today’s Roto Riteup is ready for Monday’s celebration of dingers, especially since it’s the last time we’ll have to hear the dulcet tones of BACK BACK BACK BACK KILL ME OH SWEET LORD KILL ME NOW.

On the agenda:
1. Various News and Notes
2. Streaming Pitcher Options

Various News and Notes
When the Angels return from the break later this week, they’ll be playing without C.J. Cron, who will be on the DL after breaking his left hand. Cron will end the first half with a .278 average and 11 homers, putting him well on pace to beat last year’s fantasy numbers even if he does have to sit out for a few weeks.

Also opening the second half on the DL will be Carlos Rodon, who is dealing with a sprained wrist. Rodon has decreased his walk rate since last year, but he’s given up too many homers and hits in general. While he’s had starts in which he’s spotting his fastball beautifully, even then he was predictive. Hopefully some rest does him well.

Brad Miller will head into the break with 14 homers, three more than the career-high 11 he hit all of last year. While Miller has shown well developed pop, his batting average and walk rate are both down, so all is not well in Tampa.

Expect Alex Wood to return to the Dodgers in early August, as he’s nearing rehab assignments on his way back from elbow soreness. Wood was enjoying a rebound season in his 10 starts pre-injury, striking out over a quarter of batters he’s faced, but be weary of him upon return.

A pitcher for today: Tom Koehler vs CIN (Cody Reed)
Koehler’s been mediocre, but the Reds are bad and have to hit away from GABP.

One should be both wary and weary of Alex Wood.
