The Sleeper and the Bust DFS Contest
Every week the Sleeper and the Bust podcast hosts a DFS contest for the podcast. The winner gets a shoutout on the Roto Riteup and on the podcast as well as my and Paul Sporer’s hard-earned cash. You can enter this week’s contest here: https://www.draftkings.com/draft/contest/74807939

Various News and Notes
Miguel Sano came off the bench on Monday to deliver the walk off home run on Monday versus the Braves. Sano went through a rough patch in during June as he revamped his swing, but since June 28th he is hitting .292/.390/.651 with 10 home runs. Sano is still striking out at a 30% clip, so the average will regress, but he has looked great for a while now and it is no fluke.

Marcus Semien hit two home runs on Monday in the loss to the Cubs on Monday. Semien has been fantastic this season, hitting .276/.363/.480 with 19 home runs and six stolen bases. Semien has made huge strides defensively as well going from one of the worst rated defenders in the league to one of the best over the last two years.

Mike Tauchmann hit two home runs in the victory over the Orioles. With the injuries to Yankees decimating their lineup, Tauchmann is hitting fifth in the batting order right now. He is hitting .294/.368/.541 with nine home runs and three stolen bases in 190 plate appearances so far this season. He should be picked up in most formats and is only currently owned in 15% of CBS leagues.

Derek Law received the save for the Blue Jays on Monday. Ken Giles is being carefully managed right now, so Law appears to be the closer for the time being. Law hasn’t been very good this season, but saves are saves and he has the inside track to the job if Giles can’t get healthy.

Quick Hits
Brandon Kintzler left Monday’s game with a pectoral injury. This is not good news for the Cubs who are already down Craig Kimbrel and Pedro Strop.

Mookie Betts left Monday’s game with a shin injury. Following the game, Betts stated that the move was precautionary. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

The Angels released Jonathan Lucroy on Monday. He should find work fairly quickly and has already been rumored to have some interest from the Cubs who are down a catcher with Willson Contreras on the IL.

The Braves signed Lucas Duda to a minor league contract. It is hard to think he will see much time with the Braves anytime soon.

Robinson Cano has been diagnosed with a torn hamstring. This seems like it will likely end his season.

Ender Inciarte left Monday’s game with quad tightness. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Jeff McNeil left the second game of the Mets doubleheader with a calf injury. Supposedly, he was just cramping up, so it appears that he should be fine.

Alex Verdugo was scratched with a back issue prior to Monday’s game. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

J.D. Martinez was scratched with back tightness on Monday. This seems like a minor issue, but monitor it just in case.

Asdrubal Cabrera signed a Major League contract with the Nationals. Cabrera was released recently by the Rangers after struggling mightily this season. He should provide infield depth for the Nats moving forward.

Andrew Heaney is expected to be activated from the IL this weekend. He should start versus Boston, which is a matchup you may want to leave him on the bench for.

FWIW Tauchman’s statcast data is not that great. .306 XWOBA vs actual .366. XBA is .232 vs actual .294.
