Various news and notes

Hisashi Iwakuma may be back to his old self, dominating the Twins over eight-plus innings yesterday. Iwakuma has historically been awesome against the Twins, but he also fared quite well against the Tigers, Yankees, and Angels recently. Kuma will be a free agent heading into his age-35 season, and if he’s his normal self over the last two months, he would set himself up for a nice payday.

You’ll be surprised to hear that new Cardinal Brandon Moss walked his team off yesterday, because Devil Magic is all too real.

Daniel Norris was excellent in his first start for the Tigers, striking out five over seven-plus innings while allowing just one run. Norris’ biggest issue is his command, leading his solid four-pitch mix and two plus-pitches to play down at times, but walking just one is a great first step. Norris is just 22 years old, so there’s still hope that he’ll get things under control.

After sliding headfirst into second base yesterday, Kris Bryant had to leave the game after feeling dizzy. Bryant’s concussion tests came back negative, so hopefully all is well today.

Jason Kipnis owners beware: after spending the last couple of days as the Indians’ designated hitter, the second baseman may be headed to the DL with a right shoulder issue. Kipnis has been enjoying a resurgence this year, and it would be a shame to see it be halted or come to end, but it’s better than him playing through an injury and seeing a dip in production.

Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.

A pitcher for today: Matt Cain at ATL (Mike Foltynewicz)
Cain isn’t the one we know and love, but he still has a favorable matchup and deserves some rope.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Miguel Gonzalez at OAK (Chris Bassitt)
Gonzalez is solid and gets a start against a light lineup away from Camden Yards. There’s not much upside here, but not much downside, either. Expect a Quality Start and a Win.
