COVID Issues

Donavon Solano tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss at least the next 10 days after being placed on the IL.

Quick Hits

Tejay Antone will undergo Tommy John surgery. This ends his season and he will likely miss all of next year.

Rhys Hoskins will miss the rest of the season after deciding to undergo abdominal surgery. He should have plenty of time to be ready for next season.

Lewis Brinson left Thursday’s game with a thumb sprain after a collision with a teammate in the outfield.

X-rays were negative, so hopefully he won’t miss much time. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Ketel Marte left Thursday’s game with hip discomfort. There was no other information following the game. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Ryan Jeffers left Thursday’s game with a heel injury. It sounded like he was in a ton of pain and could be heading to the IL. Get a back up plan if you have him rostered.

Various News and Notes
Nick Solak went 2-for-4 with a home run in the loss to the Indians on Thursday.

Solak struggled in the first half of the season, prompting the Rangers to demote him, but he has started well out of the gate since his call up, going 6-for-18 with a home run and a stolen base in four games. However, three of his four games have been against lefties, which he rakes against. He will need to be respectable against righties or risk falling into a platoon.

Bobby Dalbec went 3-for-4 with two home runs in the victory over the Twins on Thursday.

Dalbec has struggled this season, but he is one of his massive hot streaks. He is hitting .408 with five home runs and 19 runs batted in the month of August, but the most impressive part is he has hit all of the homers against right hand pitchers this month which is a nice sign. I am riding the hot streak for as long as it lasts.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: J.A. Happ vs PIT

This feels a bit like a trap, but since coming over to the Cardinals, Happ has a 1.99 ERA in 22.2 innings with 19 strikeouts and two of his four starts have been against these Pirates.

High Risk Options: David Price vs COL, Kyle Freeland at LAD, Eric Lauer at MIN, Dillion Peters vs STL.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Tyler Anderson vs KC

Not going to get a ton of strikeouts here, but Kansas City has a .300 wOBA and an 88 wRC+ versus lefties. Lots of great matchups today.

High Risk Options: Luis Patino at BAL, Carlos Hernandez at SEA, Nestor Cortes at OAK, Adrian Houser at MIN, Steven Brault vs STL.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from the recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
