Various News and Notes
Mickey Gasper went 2-for-2 with two home runs and two walks in the victory over the Giants on Tuesday.
Gasper has been on fire, hitting .281/.367/.477 with five home runs in 148 plate appearances. He is playing regularly against righties and making a ton of contact. There isn’t a ton of power in the bat or speed, but he can be a valuable accumulator. He is relevant in all leagues as long as he is hot.
Yainer Diaz went 3-for-4 with two home runs in the victory over the Yankees on Tuesday.
Diaz has been mediocre this season, hitting .261/.290/.422 with 10 home runs. He is making a lot of contact, but the power has consistently been down this season. He is worth monitoring if he starts to get hot, but his second half power metrics haven’t been any better than they were in the first half.
Ryan Waldschmidt hit a walk-off home run in the victory over the Cubs on Tuesday.
Waldschmidt has been good since his callup, hitting .276/.339/.400 with three home runs and seven stolen bases in 236 plate appearances. He’s making good contact, but the power is still developing. He has an accumulator profile for right now, but there is a lot more upside as that power begins to grow.

Pitcher for Today: Dustin May at NYM
May had a rough start last time out, but this is a nice matchup in a good park.
Other Options: Peter Lambert vs NYY, Grayson Rodriguez vs CLE, Connor Prielipp vs MIN, Joey Cantillo at LAA,
Pitcher for Tomorrow: Spencer Arrighetti vs KC
Arrighetti is a high risk play, but there is a lot of upside in a lot strikeout upside if his control is there.
Other Options: Hayden Wesneski at NYY, Sean Manaea vs MIL, Jake Irvin vs COL.
