Various News and Notes
Sean Doolittle was placed on the 10-Day IL with tendinitis in his knee. Doolittle has struggled in the second half, posting a 7.36 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 14.2 innings after a nice first half in which his ERA was 3.13 and he struck out 44 in 37.1 innings. This may be due to his knee, but it also could be more fatigue than anything else as he has already thrown more innings in the Majors than he has in any season since 2014. Daniel Hudson seems to be the first man up for that, but Hunter Strickland and Fernando Rodney may be in the mix as well.

Julio Urias has been suspended for 20 games by Major League Baseball for violating the domestic violence policy. Urias has been credited five games already for the administrative leave he was placed on earlier in the season. He has chosen to not appeal. The Dodgers are expected to stretch him back out to start come playoff time, but that likely isn’t helpful for fantasy this year.

Brian Dozier went three for four with two home runs on Sunday. Dozier has been better as of late hitting .240/.352/.480 with five home runs and a stolen base over the last 30 days. Dozier is a shell of his former self but still has 19 homers on the season with some chip in steals.

Griffin Canning threw seven innings allowing only one run while striking out eight. Canning has been up and down this season, but was one of the top pitching prospects coming into the season and has a role locked down in the Angels rotation for years to come. Canning has #2 or #3 upside if he can keep the ball in the yard and is a nice buy-low for next season.

Quick Hits
Chris Sale is expected to meet with Dr. James Andrews on Monday to get an opinion on his inflamed elbow.

Ross Stripling is not expected to return from the IL until September and is expected to pitch out of the bullpen following his return.

The Reds placed Joey Votto on the 10-Day IL with a back injury. There was some question to whether or not he would need to go on the IL at all, so hopefully, this is a short term issue.

Max Scherzer is expected to rejoin the Nationals this week after a successful sim game and bullpens.

Scott Oberg was placed on the 10-Day IL with a blood clot in his right arm. Wade Davis is expected to return to the closer’s role in Colorado.

Chance Sisco was removed from Sunday’s game after he was hit in the groin with a foul tip (no pun intended,) Sisco was also run into earlier in the game by Sam Travis while a throw was coming home. There was no update following the game on his condition, so consider him day-to-day at this time.

Corey Kluber was removed from his rehab start on Sunday. Kluber struggled with his velocity in his first inning of work and was quickly removed due to abdominal tightness. This seems like a set back that could be more serious than originally reported.

Brett Anderson was left his start on Sunday with a blister. This originally looked more serious than it was, but consider him day-to-day at this time.

Wade Davis immediately came in for a save situation and immediately performed yet another epic faceplant. I’m just treating the Rockies as if they don’t have a closer, or saves.
